Bloodlines in ISLAM

I and a group of friends were discussing this today and one of my friends said that the Prophet Mohammad, PBUH has said that “nasl sirf larkay sai agay barhti hai, larki sai nahi” (I’m quoting my friend here).

Is this true. Did Hazrat Mohammad say this?

Re: Bloodlines in ISLAM

Not true. Rasoolallah's (saw) lineage is only here because of Fatima (sa). Another example would be Maryam (as).

Ya, that's exactly what was being discussed. And my friend says that no, nasl actually khatam ho chuki hai.

I don't really know what Islam says about it, personally, I'm much more my mother's son than my father's...

Re: Bloodlines in ISLAM

In Islam we are a product of two - male and female ... Our lineage is taken from our father. This is the name by which we are identified on the Day of Judgment. Isa (AS) had no father and was identified by the name of his mother (AS).

It is true that there is no direct son of Sayyidina Muhammad (SAW) who had a family. However, just like in royality when there is no son the eldest daughter is crowned monarch. The family name changes, but the lineage is still present from the father of the daughter. The wisdom in there being no sons means - no more prophets, the wisdom in there being a daughter is so fulfilment of future prophecy can manifest - The Mahdi will be from Ahl-ul-Bayt.
