zainab fell down while running after her brother …her nose n upper lipstarted bleeding …as i was wiping it off …i noticed the colour of blood …it wasn’t the usual dark red …it was orangish red …
is it normal…???
does it mean she still lacks iron …???
we are due this month for a blood test …but i was wondering …is the 3 months therapy proving a waste …???
should i double the dose for some days before test …???
any suggestions…???

Hello Afia...
I know that when blood is exposed to air, it becomes lighter/brighter red in color. Probably not to worry but why not have her checked out anyway...just for the peace of mind. I'd not double dosage or change anything else about her meds, if you do, you'll not get an accurate result of whether her treatment is working. Since she's having another test soon anyway, why not just take her in a bit earlier and tell them what happened.

Blood from the veins is darker than from the arteries- so that could be why its lighter. Plus i cut my lip once the blood trickle was lighter than from a cut on the arm or the leg.
