and one thing which i most picked up was that ..to take a family member with you ..so others knw your type .. if in emmergency ..they l knw what to to ..

I'm O +ve. The commonest type! I know because I donate blood.

You don't need to know your blood group because if they ever need to find out, they are going to have to check the type anyway. They won't be relying on your memory!

I guess it's good to know though because if you are Rhesus -ve then you will have to be very careful about getting anti D when you become pregnant. It's all very routine in the UK so don't worry about it :)

If you don't get anti D in your first pregnancy then the damage has already been done and there is absolutely no point in getting any anti D in the second pregnancy because it won't work. And it can cause very very serious problems for the second child!

My post did not suggest giving antiD in "second pregnancy" or long after exposure of mother with fetal blood (sensitizing event).

In fact the antiD should be given within 72 hours of 'sensitizing' event. Some suggest you could extend this time to 9-10 days though. :)
