Blood Tests and Ramadan

Can you have blood tests done when you’re fasting? I know that a certain amount of blood, that is accidently spilled is ok, and it does not break your fast. but since blood tests take more blood than your common paper cut, is it ok? and what is the certain amount?

Re: Blood Tests and Ramadan

My answer would put me in the infidels list :bummer:

I will donate blood, if it is to save a human life.
eg. a person on an operating table, needing a pint and my blood group matches with his, no other option is available.

Should I say "Sorry brother - you can die peacefully, but excuse me, I cant donate blood right now as I am fasting to gain Allah’s blessings and secure a place in Jannah  ".
I dont think Allah (swt) would bless me in this situation.

Logic would say; donate blood, save a life, break your fast to save yourself from any harmfull effects and then give kaffara. Allah is all forgiving.

In a similar scenario… Is this blood test a life / Death situation ?
Can it wait till after iftar ?

:chai:

Re: Blood Tests and Ramadan

you're logic sounds perfectly legit to me. What's better...saving another human life, or keeping a fast, which is probably already makrooh, since you've probably done plenty of wrong things.

as for the blood tests, i've got 2 words: Wait Times

Re: Blood Tests and Ramadan

Khumar, according to my findings blood tests are perfectly alright. Large amounts of blood would be something along the lines of donating blood. From what I’ve read and understood donating blood can invalidate your fast, but not the blood tests.

Here’s the evidence:

Ref: Does taking blood invalidate the fast?
