Re: Blood Pressure+Diabetes

^and like, give some example of some food...

Re: Blood Pressure+Diabetes

Little to no added salt to any food. Carbs are essential even for someone with diabetes but what they need to be careful of is not to eat processed foods (white bread, pastas) and sweet products ( desserts: cakes, cookies). However they should and need to eat carbs that are high in fiber eg. whole wheat flour to make roti should be used. You can also eat fruits because they are high in fiber. Fiber slows down the digestion and decreases the occurrance of spike in blood sugar. It is also extremely important for someone with high blood pressure and diabetes to be within the healthy range of weight for their height. FYI the health range (18.4 to 24.9 BMI) is not suitable for us Indo Asians. We should aim for a BMI of less then 23.

Re: Blood Pressure+Diabetes

Well i tell ya what i eat. I try to run away from Desi food as much as i can. Though at our house..our focus is mainly on baked foods along with fresh salad. We do not bring pop or eat fry food. Now of course..when there is dawat or something at our house..we do make desi food. But that is only if there is big dawat. Other than that..during regular days..my mom makes food with not that oil added.
