The registration is not scary at all. Relatively easy process, doesn’t take more than half an hour. They take a little bit of blood and then explain what would happen with the registration.
What they do is, they analyze your blood and store relevant parameters into a global stem cell database. If there is a requirement for stem cells anywhere in the world then they contact you and do some further more detailed tests to ensure that it really is a match. And after that, they’d go for extracting the actual stem cells. I think it’s a great way to potentially become a life saver.
They told me that on average there is a 10% chance that I will be contacted again within the next 10 years.
