Blonde Bride

AoA All,

I have a friend who wants me to make a pakistani styled walima bridal dress for her gori bhabi-to-be. She told she is very pale with blonde. Can we put up some pictures of non-desi brides in desi bridals for an idea what would look best colour and style-wise ?

Re: Blonde Bride

:naraz: no one ?

Re: Blonde Bride

deffos not light colours like beige, light pink and whatnot. dont want the bride to be completely washed out or a ghost in the pictures.

but then again, goris do wear white on their wedding day. but is white a suitable colour for a pakistani walima?

silver/grey or gold seems like a nice colour. esp a gold attire with something like emerald coloured jewellery.

style wise should be a long dress and maybe a trail?

Re: Blonde Bride

white or off white/creamish with maybe a hint of color like turquoise or magenta piping or trim would look nice.

Re: Blonde Bride

I dont have a pic but a light pink or cream color would look great

Re: Blonde Bride

I was thinking the opposite. Unless she has a tan it's easy for white girls to get washed out. Keep it light but do ask for her undertones to know whether gold or silver suits her and whether she is going to get a tan. Also whether she has a different eye colour. Could utilise it somehow. Like match the blue if she has blue eyes.

Re: Blonde Bride

true. guess i'm used to the tanned california blondies. lol. you're right!

Re: Blonde Bride

I googled “Indian fusion weddings” and came up with a few pics. I’m also including some pics of white brides with gown with crystal work. As mentioned already, find out if she plans on tanning for the walima and also her eye color. If possible, get a picture of her.

To be honest, I really think white girls look the best in white/beige/pale pink or other similar colors. Dark jewel tones that we desis’s love and rock just doesn’t work with white girls skin tones…especially if she’s “very pale”. I think you should definitely ask the bride herself if there is a specific color she would like or a color that she thinks she looks great in. Otherwise, its safe to stick with white/off white/beige type colors with tons of crystal work…and MAYBE a slight hint of a COOL TONED color.

Also if you google “panina tornai bridal”, you should see tons of elaborate white wedding down…again to give you a idea as to how crystal work/light colors would look on a white girl…maybe even give you idea for doing something unique/different in terms of design. If possible, I would also recommend asking the bride herself how fancy/decked out she wants the outfit to be. We desis may love the typical “desi bridal” look but a white woman may not feel comfortable in it. At the end of the day…you want to make something that she feels comfortable wearing.

Good luck and let us know what you end up deciding on!

Re: Blonde Bride

I've done a few Caucasian brides...they usually stick to jewel tones and look very nice in them too.

I don't have pictures thought unfortunately. :( I'd say the dark pinks, turquoise, even reds as long as they tan a bit, look great.

Re: Blonde Bride

I loved it too.

Re: Blonde Bride

Proto how roughly much would this cost as it is and how much if someone were to tone it down to a formal? (For a wedding guest)

Re: Blonde Bride

Is it a saree ?

Re: Blonde Bride
