I was just telling someone this and thought I’d share it here as well.
Sometimes I think technology has made humans a little dumber. i.e. I used to be able to do difficult calculations in my brain but now, I must check myself with a calculator because I rely on it so much.
The other day I was at work and needed to go to the bank. The bank was across the street from my office building. I remembered it was cloudy when I left home that morning and it was going to rain in the afternoon. I thought it’ll be a good idea if I check whether it’s raining or not before I leave office. I did check it and it was not raining. But you know how I checked?..you’ll love this…I went to our local news channel’s website and looked at live radar picture instead of getting up from my chair and looking outside the window!!!
Shikra : yeas True .. what you just said that we are nowa days totally relying on gadgets and its made us think ..even like books for example ..such as books ..(islamic) and other books .. have come in CD form and if we want to find something from it then we do it by just click of few buttons here and there where as in the past it wasnt like this ..ppl actually put effort in to research and study .. am not saying CD is a bad idea but it has made us lazy ..
not sure what u meant, relying on technology due to the FUNCTIONALITY or relying for the sake of not getting up (laziness) or just good old, not thinking of getting up..?
i will go with the laziness factor, kitchen in our house is above my room .. whenever my meal/tea is ready or mom wants me or needs to discuss or wants me to come up, calls me from kitchen's phone to my cell..
i got cousins on msn, and whenever ALL OF THEM are over, it kinda gets crowded.. groups of cousins form.. and only way we can talk in peaceful manner is from living room's computer to mine and brother's computer on bedroom level.. (3 groups of cousins)
i dunno if its blonde or what ,, bbut here at work.. we IM eachother... ppl sitting few feet away also// instead of just turning our heads and speaking....
