ok looks like people r quite confused here

  1. whoever mentioned invision blog as an option is an idiot. Invision is a forum/board and pretty good at it. Invision Blog is part of Invision board. It isn’t a standalone product. Its made so the forum members can have a small blog going for them. which makes it an option only for people with invision forums.
    it is administered by the forum admin not u. U can only post stuff in it.

2)Blogger, xanga, livejournal, typepad MSN spaces are all weblogs. They are provided as is, u don’t have to worry about hosting or buying domains names or installing it or mysql or php blah blah. just signup and ur done.

  1. blogger makes u publish ur whole blog whenever u create an entry, which makes it kinda slow. but it has **** load of templates and since it gives u access to template code u can add some (very limited) extra stuff if u please.

    4)Xanga isn’t free, but really famous. It has a **** free service though.

5)wordpress, serendipity, moveable type, nucleusCMS are blogging applications. You have to find ur own hosting, buy ur domain and install it all by urself. wordpress, serendipity and nucluesCMS are pretty easy to install. moveable type requires some tinkering to make it work. plus moveable type doesn’t have that good of a plugin architecture. Its free version allows u just one author.

  1. what makes blogging applications better than weblogs is that there r simply **** load of plugins available. and can make ur blog pretty kickass, u can add lot of stuff in it. plus u get the source code in php or whatever, so u can tinker stuff in it as well

so depends on whether u can get hosting or not, and wether ur hosting company allows u to install a blog in it. rememeber u’ll have to do this all byurself. IF there is a problem its upto u to get help by searching forums. So don’t bother if ur not tech inclined.

u can always try out blogger , xanga and livejournal and see which one works for u

^^ Is it just me or he just said same things that we have discussed and agreed already? Minus the Serendipity, which BTW looks like a great tool but I have never used it so really can't give any reviews about it.

Ok bhailog, I just finished playing with Serendipity and I must say it is a very neat tool to blog. I will try to search for sites that offer templates/skins for it and will get back to you all about that.

u don't have to search for sites that have templates.
Install SPARTACUS plugins and then all templates and plugins r one click install. A feature not even avilable in wordpress.

serendipty is relatively new compared to wordpress and nucleuscms or movaeble type.

I am playing with serendipty from few days but I just can’t find the option to disable trackback system. Is there any plugin available to disable this thing?
