Re: Blessed ! Birds of peace roosting on my front porch.
Yesterday. Last day in the nest. The parents leave the chicks alone in the nest in a bid to encourage them to fly out of the nest.
The chicks perch a few hours on the edge contemplating the imminent departure.

Last moments of the siblings together, minutes before flying away.
Should we or shouldn’t we ?
Good bye little birdies. As Southie guru said - fly in peace.

Pakhi meaning, panchi ? It's a Faakhta / Mourning Dive.
Jo din main kabhi kabhi udaas say haukay bharti hai.

The chicks are so deceptive. Until the last day when they are in the nest they still look half-baked and meek.
The minute they fly out of the nest and sit on top of the roof, they look bigger, fully-grown and slender like the adults.
The parents encourage them to fly behind them from tree to tree.
With the previous batch, 2-years ago, I noticed that one parent takes charge of one chick for a few days outside the nest.
I have spotted a parent and a young one hang out close to the nest for a few more days.
