I don't think this is a reasonable initial reaction. Why mitigate the cruelty of the scums who set off the bombs?
It is true, however, that Saddam was very cruel to the people and children of Iraq.
Let's do a little body count update, using my least favorite source, Iraq Body Count. They say that up til yesterday the maximum amount of Iraqi people killed is as high as 10,747, and through the end of "Major Combat", there was a maximum of 7,350.
Why dont' you guys get it? In the jihadi mind everything and anything is justified as long as it is allegedly aimed at America. As lsong as teh guy pulling trigger claims he is aiming at America it is justified even if the bullet turns around and hits his own butt.
People who are finding some kind of victory in this are most deluded and evil folks.
The neatest thing is that they were stoning Americans.

I think we can do a "search on" blame displacement and see who ccoined it first on GS. I remember a guy named chaltahai, back in the day who pointed that out circa 2000.

How many kids were killed by the relentless bombing by Bush in Iraq in past decade or so? Any figures? How many orphans created in Afghanistan in the last few years by the Americans...again any figures?

I had a friend who was a nurse at a surgical intensive care unit in Pittsburgh. There was a guy there who had multiple stab wounds, which resulted in an abdominal wound that took multiple grafts and six months to heal. His wife came to visit every day.
Soon the staff learned that it was the wife who had stabbed him! One nurse braved asking the wife what happened, and she said that he had come home drunk and nasty, and she grabbed a knife.
When asked to describe what happened next, she said, "It just went off!", as if knives just "go off", six times. Perhaps that is true in Iraq, those bombs just "go off", and we can ascribe responsibility to the innanimate object, not the idiot who built it, financed it, drove next to the school bus and set it off.
Or perhaps it is like the old Bill Cosby line, " The Devil Made Me Do It". Updated that would be "The Americans made me do it", as if that made things fine....

The Shia's are the one's largely being killed in these attacks, but they always blame the American's not the Sunni's as you would like. Plus America has just committed one of the biggest single massacre of civilians in Iraq since the tine of Saddam, by killing 700 mainly civilians in Falluja. Extra proof if needed for the Iraqi people, that the American's are the one's out to kill Iraqi's on mass, and not to believe their unproven claims.
Btw, do a little world travelling. You will realise that people the world over freely talk about the American severe blame displacment disorder which blames everything on the rest of the world, but not America.
