it is a bloody nose for sure. but lets hope this wakes up the pakistan military and helps build consensus in the establishment against these religious whackjobs. and its a step-up from the usual tactics these taleban asswipes have (suicide bombing markets, hospitals, places of woships and relying on Imran Khan for PR-work). And thats a good thing. The military is both designed to fight head on attacks and that is its appropriate role. If these roaches have decided they can now try to take on the state headon, Im confident they've chosen a track where they wont get far, despite what happened today.
the same thing happened in 2009 at GHQ, if nothing changed after that nothing will change after this affair, be prepared for more. After a few days we will forget about that, and then it will be repeated some where else...i dont think our security forces can face and remove this threat.
Absolutely right :k: … I believe GHQ attack was more serious than this attack last night. If nothing happened after GHQ incident, than rest assured — which I am very well — that nothing will happen even this time except inquiries and run-of-the-mill statements from ISPR and politicians.

good point. they should have been more vigilant much sooner. at any rate, we should hope this signals a change in tactics on the part of taleban. I'd much rather lose a plane or two than the hundreds of unarmed civilians these animals attack day in day out.
We had been fed throughout the night that the entire area is conrdoned off and militants are encircled, than how come two of them escaped?
The cream of our elite forces (SSG from Navy and Army) took part in this operation. And 18 hours and 10 deaths later, we come to know that 2 of those 6 managed to escape. This kind of a result could have easily been achieved by police opertion also.
KARACHI: Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Monday that 17 foreigners, 11 of them Chinese maintenance workers, were recovered safely from a Pakistani naval air base after it came under attack.
“There were 17 foreigners and I want to make it clear, no one was taken hostage,” he told reporters.
“They were shifted from the base. They included 11 Chinese. All our guests are safe,” he said.
A US embassy spokesman in Islamabad told AFP six American contractors had also been on the base, providing maintenance support for navy aircraft. He said that all Americans had been accounted for.
Malik also said that all those who attacked the base were killed during the siege and added that 10 security personnel had also been killed, lowering an earlier toll of 13.
theres a lot of khudsakhta speculation and circle-jerk analysis on the tv right now. thats what tv does. you lot need to stop reacting like headless chickens on every bit of contradictory detail fed to you. Wait.
Source? Are you kidding???? Every TV channel was running this report and Rahman Malik said it himself the moment he landed at the Karachi Airport. And EVEN if it was a wrong news, isn't it a SOP to cordon off the area which is being operated?
the naval chief is saying there was no security lapse, should we believe that? when there is/was never any problem so we will do nothing to rectify it, until the next terrorist attack.
How do we define security lapse,
a short or temporary period when you forget to something in rite way.
Its not like security guard was gone for tea break or Guard let them in without checking proper identification.

Its too early to say which was worst GHQ or Mehran Airbase. however someone has really smart thing to say about these incidents. The best way to defened is attack. Terrorists are attacking our assets and we r busy saving em (which we fail to save anyway). We need to hunt them down before they reach our assets.
D

Again** i dunt think **Malik is getting his info from rite ppl.

i've heard all kinds of contradictory stuff. you have half the people saying nobody was taken alive, the other half saying 2 ran away. Wait.
^ so who is responsible for providing security to these assets? you or me? if the attacks are still taking place it means the authorities responsible are not working efficiently, and its not the first time thats happened in Pakistan, similar things have been done over and over again. Why are these attacks only happening in Pakistan (these kind of attacks have not happened even in Afghanistan and Iraq)...
If we keep burying our heads in the sand after every attack in the guise of rallying behind the army, these things will keep on happening! there are failures from our army which need to be checked and rectified if we want to remove the threat permanently. a one off thing can be forgiven but a thing thats being repeated over and over cant be left lightly.
“Militants targeted Navy, not aircrafts: Naval Chief”**
Navy’s aircraft are not part of Navy and Navy has nothing to do with them? Does it mean that Navy wasn’t attacked? Than who was?
Nauman dismissed rumors of security breach. “This attack could not be termed as security lapse,” he stated.
Than what on earth is called security lapse? Abbotabad wasn’t a security lapse and this is also not a security lapse? Give me a break guys. Just one truth will come out of your mouths!!!
**To a question, Admiral Nauman Bashir said that terrorists succeeded to flee the base after assault.
**
They entered the base, destroyed two aircraft, kill ten personnel and two of them managed to flee, all in the presence of SSG commandos from Navy and Army, rangers and police. Great job :k:
**He vowed to capture all involved terrorists after investigation into assault.
**
just like I heard some one telling me that Rahman Malik said that terrorist took advantage of dark…
so I am like" I thought that is the whole objective of having security - any one can do it during daylight…
