Blasphemy, Islam and Pakistan

Re: Blasphemy, Islam and Pakistan

It is taking me too long to come to grips with your view. Fortunately this aspect of your view or what validates it is not in question. You can have any beliefs you want, I wont disagree with everything you say or challenge it. So something like why Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala only asked for their boycott whilst they were in that speech is not being challenged nor commented on by myself. Nor what type of abrogation [permission to Qattal] took place. This could be possibly looked at later

What is in question, and I have disagreed strongly to, is what is mentioned in previous page. So the issues which I highlighted were to do with your interpretation of 1) what constitutes mislohum - that is a part of my objection. Also your stated view 2) that those who retaliate are munafiqs (Astagfirullah) 3) Abrogated command as per community

My view is that you had taken a wrong interpretation of both mislohum and retaliation. That is why i showed you what the tafsir say and that you had used ‘abrogated’ commands as part of your speech. If you say the use of this verse was not meant to paint a picture, supporting your view regarding those who retaliate, i will accept this, otherwise the community has said it is not applicable.

So 1 and 2 of above list is what is in question and I have objected to

Re: Blasphemy, Islam and Pakistan

With one of these issues that I do know A little bit about There are 2x2 accepted positions which are the positions of Muslims which I would like to highlight

Regarding the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam:

1 Anyone who curses him, reviles him, finds fault with him or disparages him is killed
a) repentance is not accepted
b) repentance is accepted*

c) permission of the state is needed
d) permission of the state is not needed

  • this has been the view of our indopak Ulema

Re: Blasphemy, Islam and Pakistan

If that is the true view of our indopak Ulema, why do they not oppose the current blasphemy law which does not allow for repentance?

Re: Blasphemy, Islam and Pakistan

With regards to accepting repentance i think the difference of opinion is on indirect blasphemy of the mentioned kind, not on direct forms. So pretty much unified.
Also I am not aware of difference of opinion at the scholarly level between the (3) sects of the region. At least I have seen evidence from all of them in support of the standard positions

The modernists are in no-mans land

I do not know much about Pakistan’s Blasphemy law, so I wont comment on it.
