Blackhawk down in Somalia and Pakistani APCs

Heroic actions by the Pakistani army (blue helmets) saved the day by rescuing trapped US soldiers in the center of Mogadishu.

Pakistani soldiers are now getting ready for Haiti and should be on the ground in 2 months.

Green and white flag will continue to be the symbol of peace and stability.

Hats off to the brave soldiers.

Unfortunately the movie Black Hawk Down failed to show that.
My cousin was just in Seira leone for one year and got back to Pakistan. He was telling me that you wont believe it, but people love us here. Whenever you go out they start shouting Pakistan ZIndabad.

Yeap! I noticed that. But remember, the movie was a feature film and not a documentary. It was made in Hollywood so it was going to show the pain and suffering of US soldiers.

It is the job of Pakistani intellectuals and moviemakers to highlight Pak soldiers. I hope one day some of us can make documentaries or feature films that show true contributions of Pakistan.

Can you imagine how moving the picture will be for Rashid Minhas. I realize PTV made some docu-dramas about Pak army. But a feature film would have had wider audience.

^^ Im up for this idea, perhaps a movie on rashid minhas, & the sacrifice Pakistan made to eliminate somali warlord mohammed farah aideed should be made.

Pakistan helped he sorry asses of US soldiers during that fateful day.

I wish someone in Pakistan could take up the project and make some nice long plays/movies about some of these heroes. The really old dramas called Nishan-e-haider are too old to see now.
Operation Dawarka was well made if anyone has seen it.
Shoaib mansoor made Alpha Bravo Charlie very well, specially showing the actual mission by captain Naveed to take Naveed top (done in drama by Captain Kashif).
I heard that Shoaib mansoor was working on a movie called Yeh baraf hamari hai (about siachin). Dont know what happened with that.
But i wish Pakistani directors would come up with some nice movies/long plays that shows that struggle and sacrifices made by these great people.

sounds like a very good idea! :k: someone should go ahead with this! Maybe mail/email in your ideas to ptv or other tv stations or producers of other dramas.

i,m open for hero kay roles ki offers. :smooth:

can i be the villain .:smokin:

in black hawk down, the only pakistanis were the humvee drivers. I doubt we only sent 2 people to help the american solidiers. Atleast they cud have showed what actually happened.

Correction! Those were not humvees but APCs (Armored Personnel Carriers). Although the model shown is not used by Pak military. Our APC stock is mostly from 1950s when chains instead of wheels were used to drive the vehicles.

As I said, the movie was a feature film and not a documentary. It was made for the consumption of American audience. The last scene where a squad of American soldiers runs to the safety of Pakistanis is not true either.

Pakistani officer (most likely a lieutenant) ordered American soldiers to get in the APCs. Once the APCs ran out of room, he got the rest to climb up the APC rooftops and then got everyone out of harms way. This must have been a scene like a typical bus in rural Punjab where people gladly travel while sitting on the bus's roof.

The bottom line is that Paks shouldn't complain about Hollywood’s version of the events. Digital cameras are cheap these days. One can make a good docu-drama with a budget of $20,000. We may have to use some volunteers but the thanks to computer magic; we can create scenes like "lord of the rings" without having to generate elaborate backdrops.
