Blackberry Storm is coming out tomorrow here on verizon and I am thinking of buying it but I can’t decide between the Storm or iphone. I read all the features, specs, blogs, news, and everything else i could find. I still can’t decide. I need ur opinion on this.
btw. Storm works with GSM and CDMA so can i use it in Pakistan without using verizon global plan?
^ Chances are Storm has European GSM frequency for Verizon's roamer customers and Pakistan has European frequency on GSM so very likely it will work that is if the phone is NOT LOCKED :)

Here in Pakistan...BLACKBERRY has become very popular for Banks and Corporate bodies--that the agony of emails..follows you all the way home or outside the city:)
MOBILINK & WARID provide blackberry services affiliated to office emails and hotmail..though a certain charge on hotmail config. has now come up.
**Normally..BLACKBERRY is not all that popular as a regular mobile phone. **
I do have one...but an official one..not my property..but Bank's otherwise.. of the normal ones for my other numbers--I have I-phone Apple and NOKIA Communicator.
^ i got the BB Storm and I love it. I already got it unlocked by verizon global support team. When I travel to pakistan I should be able to use it with any local SIM. How much Molilink charges to use the BB services?
Oh, so verizon has switched over to GSM already? The last time i came across a verizon phone, they were still CDMA...
Nice!
No verizon is still using CDMA and as far as i know they do not have any plans to switch to GSM.
Blackberry Storm works with CDMA and GSM. This is a true Global phone and the best part is verizon unlocked it for me. It also comes with a international charger. I did not have to go through third party to unlock it. I tired AT&T sim after unlocking it, and it worked fine.
Do you have to manually switch the frequency band from programming menu? Or is it auto?
Its automatic when you are traveling outside the US It comes with preinstalled SIM card. In the US you have to get it unlocked to switch it to GSM network such as ATT T-mobile etc and you have to switch it manaully. It is very easy to switch. phone gives you th option in the menu to change from CDMA to GSM.
Bettery life is good but I think its not as much as they claimed it on their specs. It may improve with software upgrade and you also gotta keep in mind it is multitasking so it will drain you drain your battery quick so considering tht i still say its verryyy good.
Yeah. I had a T-Mobile HTC Shadow when it first came out, and the battery life wasn't that impressing. It would drain rather quickly if you use the phone quite frequently. They offer extended batteries but they're very bulky and look very unattractive.
I might look into getting the Storm. It's either Storm or Iphone3G.
Will wait for more reviews to pour in. Keep us updated on how you like it, if you run into any trouble/issues, etc...

I am gonna give credit where its due. I am loyal consumer but i do not discredit the competition.
I also like iphone but i do not like at&t network. In my opinion Verizon has the best network which is why i am stuck with it for last 7 years. iphone has better web browser and it has WIFI but veizon's EVDO is very fast. Iphone is not multitasking or CDMA which makes Storm true global phone. Storm is also a clickable touch screen which supposedly help you type accurately. iphone has application store and storm does not but it is coming soon.
It does not matter which phone u chose you gonna have pro or cons which i consider in both phones i ultimately decided to get storm becuz of network after considering all the features between these two phones.
I was debating between Storm and Bold. Checked out a live model of Storm today and unfortunately didn't like it. May be its something that grows on you, but one thing I am certain... its software is still a big work-in-process. Accelerometer is very slow, SurePress typing is crappy and the overall interface suffers because the menus are designed for navigation-ball but on Storm you are asked to make selection via fingers. Very poor execution. This thing will take a while to be a good device (will require a major firmware update or many updates); or just wait for BB to do it over again.
Bold is stable, reliable Blackberry. Excellent screen and WiFi (Storm doesn't have WiFi).
ps. If touchscreen is what you want then Storm absolutely doesn't compare to iPhone. iPhone is way too good as a touchscreen device. It has its short-comings, but Storm completely underwhelms as a device and is not ready for prime time. Only guinea pig testers with $200 spare cash need apply. :)

Thanks for the review Faisal. It seems like BB is marketing Storm solely based on the touch screen. I agree with your assessment that it is very much a work in progress.
I think that the Iphone is terrific but I would like to stay loyal to BB. Are you buying Bold and then thinking about upgrading to Storm (or something better) in the next 6-12 months or will you wait until the better device from BB appears on the market?
For a while I was thinking of getting Storm and move from AT&T to Verizon. However, after testing Storm and not liking it, I bought a BB Bold. Been using it for a month (almost) and very happy with it.
The width of Bold is a bit much for me (especially since I was carrying a BB Pearl for 2 years), but from the functionality and maturity standpoint, the device is top-notch. Beautiful screen, 3G and WiFi connectivity and the same old excellent BB messaging interface. The faux leatherette backcover is also neat. Camera, though not comparable to some other phones, is a good improvement over earlier BB's.
