^ nothing beats the 1st choice. If you are worried about the cleavage ( I dnt think the dress is that deep but if it still shows) , try pinning it a little higher if that does not work you could carry a stole, very light weight one so your dress still can be seen through the stole.
Lol I’m so excited about the dress !!! Do let us know what you end up buying.
Sure thing! Im excited to try them out too…

There’s no rule against wearing black for non-desis. Especially for a black tie event. Heck majority (if not all) men will be wearing black suits!
For a wedding, its best to avoid outfits that are totally white, beige, creme, champagene, light peach etc. colors. For a formal black tie wedding, I would recommend sticking to darker colors (black, grey, navy, dark purple/green etc.). I always try to stick with darker colors for evening/formal events simply b/c they look more elegant.
Obviously there are many way of doing this based on personal preferance, but if I was planning on wearing that amethyst dress (1st one you posted), this is what I would try to do:
Hair: Nice blowdry is fine
Shoes: Pewter/dark grey heels; Ideally they should be strappy ; having some sparkle would be great since the dress in plain
Nails: Dark purple vampy nails. I personally don’t like french manicures but that’s a very personal preference.
Jewelry: Long earrings with dark grey/pewter colored stones (matching shoes & bracelet). Engagement & wedding ring. Grey or dark purple clutch.
Thank you! I think the pewter/silver with purple will look stunning. The dress is plain so i think i could add a little bit of “bling” to it with the jewelry, shoes and minaudiere. Perfect!

Re: Black tie wedding…
Agree completely!!I have seen women show up in gorgeous silk sarees at black tie events so whats stopping people from wearing a shalwar kameez to one.
Re: Black tie wedding…
I really like this lace maxi dress from Next, available in black or navy. Teamed with the right accessories, I think it’d look great and modest: Buy Lace Maxi Dress from the Next UK online shop
Apart from that, I’d check out Mango too: MANGO - CLOTHING - Dresses - Maxis

I think the level of formalwear is dictated by the venue at western weddings. Use that as a guide.
