Perhaps it is just a shade (a black shade) from in-grown hair? Or from stubble?
You shouldn't shave or use hair removing cream in your underarms, otherwise they will darken. You'd rather wax, even though it's painful.

why not use razor?
I thought I just made it clear that one should not shave.
I think regardless of shaving, waxing, or whatnot, if you have enough dense pigment under your skin, the skin will seem darker even though it is only the hair follicles just beneath the surface of the skin.
now days some ladies use hair removing mouse. dono if they are good or not !!![]()
hi cat woman!!
i know using WAX is very painfull. But pleaselet me know which wax is good..hot ot cold, and what about those strips?? do they work 2?? :)

albelli, wax strips do work! i use them pretty regularly for certain body parts. they're easy to use and not more painful than a pinch. i use the sally hansen variety.
:)
^ Sally Hansen's wax strips are great. I use them sometimes. but i am more comfortable using my own home made wax :)
never use razor or creams for removing hair underarm. your hair will grow thicker and the skin does turn black from all the chemicals in the cream. you shud have waxed instead. its painful in the begining but gets better with time, ( u get used to it).
oh plus ur hair growth decreses if u wax.. i have been doing that since i was 16! now i dont even have to wax for atleast a month.

: ) Your hair does not grow thick, there maybe more folicles but not thick. Everyone is a different skin type, some people are suited to depilatory creams and it doesn't darken their skin while others get burnt. Waxing ultimately is a good idea for a clean finish and does pull the hair from the root which is why with time your nerve endings are staggered and immune from the pain but hey its less hair.
^ hehe..thanks coco the nutcase.
Aleezay:
i use 4 lemons ( the juice)
8 table spoon of sugar
4 table spoon of water
mix them and cook it for 5 - 10 mins till it starts getting thicker.. u take tidsy bitsy of it ( dont burn ur hands) n see if u can remove ur hair by it. if u can.. then ur wax is ready...turn off ur stove but keep stirring it till its cold.
use cotton stripes to remove ur hair :)
the creams make ur skin darker after prolonged use, i dont think waxing ur underarms is as painful as ppl say, and with waxing u feel much better after and hair doesnt come back for another 2/3 weeks.
i agree aysha i use wax to remove unwanted hair and i feel very comfortable coz the hair doesn't come back for like 4 weeks but could anyone post some herbal or home remidies for removing hair.
:k: thanks guys ![]()
i have this problem as well but i don't feel comfortable sharing it with my family doctor let alone my family but as this is a discussion board and not face_to_face i would like to ask for help with black arm pits due to shaving with razor *note arm pits weren't naturally black since i started removing these unwanted hair as a muslim should i have noticed my skin has darkened badly.
what can i do!
p.s. "don't suggest go and see a doctor for obvious reasons"

mix equal amounts of olive oil and lemom juice and massage onto skin, this should work,
and also once u stop using the cream and start using wax the dark areas should begin to fade.
thanks suroor_ca02 ... :)
