Black Seed used for healing

Re: Black Seed used for healing

Looks like they have kalaunji up as black sesame seeds but I am dead sure they r actually called Caraway seeds. Poppy seeds r too round to be kalaunji and the picture someone posted above for caraway seeds above is actually zeera which is cumin.

Re: Black Seed used for healing

Ok get this! From an indian site" ... kalonji also known as nigella seed or black onion seed... It may be labeled Kala Jeera or Shahi Jeera or simply Black Cumin..." whihc is again wrong cos cumin is zeera. Gadhay. Just go to a desi store and ask for kalonji yaar.

Re: Black Seed used for healing

:rotfl: I know its not poppy seeds either, I found out later on. And Caraway is totally diff thing and this is what comes up when u google it. Lets just call it Kalonji then

Re: Black Seed used for healing

pd Kalvanji is black caraway, i have used it and am pretty sure about it , unless the manufacturer got the name wrong. (nigella sumthing is the scientific name)

Re: Black Seed used for healing

ye im sure its caraway too.

Re: Black Seed used for healing

Mywish I guess you are rite, but only caraway seeds didn't seem to resemble it at all. I will go with ur suggested name.

Re: Black Seed used for healing

thanks pd, i feel honured. :)

Re: Black Seed used for healing

Well does anyone know if black seed oil can be used effectively for skin conditions? This may include acne, pysorisis, ecezema, vitiligo, scar healing, etc...

Re: Black Seed used for healing

Omars I guess u should google for it. Cuz normally they tell u to take seeds with water. As for oil, I have neva used it beside we all have limited knowledge and may not be useful to you. You are better off asking someone with more experience and knowledge in regards to herbs.

Re: Black Seed used for healing

Oh jeez, everyone has their seeds mixed up. I'll try looking at the desi store next time I go.

I took Kalongi , and I've been taking it for the past few months. I will honestly tell you, I had a lot of problems. I had intense back pain. Irregular periods. And this "tired" feeling that I could not shrug off no matter what.

I took kalongi and its all gone. I feel energized. I feel good. No backpain, unless if I've been straining my back doing something. Also, though, I was taking vitamin B complex, and also centrum (which now i have to look for a substitute). I was also going about 2-3 times a week running or biking. So I dont know if it was specifically the kalongi or not. But I do believe that it has helped.

Re: Black Seed used for healing

It is not kalonji or poppy or khskhsa or anything. It is black mustard (mohri or rai). It has definite helpful property for skin care. Others do not (although they may be good for whole lot of other things).

Re: Black Seed used for healing

OK folks,

Kalongi is totally black, and kinda like sesame seed in shape. Dont know what its called in English.

Kala Zeera is something else.... which looks like normal zeera,,, but is darker in color,,, and has a very bitter taste. I know this because my mum used to make us have it once in a while if we were pigging out on too much sweets. Its very bitter but is apparently good for u when taken in moderation.

Re: Black Seed used for healing

That bitter tasting seeds taken to undo the effect of too much sweets is ajvain(oregano) :p

How and where have u been kaka? Nice to see u back.
