black or dark dark henna

Hi there

I know black henna is said to be harmful, but whenever someone returns from holiday, they have had it put on form, Dubai, Morocco, so there must be a safe version too? By black I mean, once you do the design onthe hands it remains like a very dark black, does anyone know of any online shop this can be purchased from?

Thanks

Re: black or dark dark henna

i've heard black henna is harmful aswell esp the ones they advertise around leicester square, london which leaves you with the most awful rash!! some people don't get any reaction from using it though.

i am sure you can buy it online. google it.

Re: black or dark dark henna

Black henna = not a good idea. It has some synthetic ingredient in it which can cause chemical burns to people with sensitive skin!

Re: black or dark dark henna

Most henna artists use black henna abroad, but it is NOT safe!!!

Not only can black henna burn your skin, it can also have worse effects to the inside of your body. Black henna contains a dye called ParaPhenylenediamine, which has been known to penetrate deep into the skin, reaching the living cells and then eventully passing into the blood stream…this can lead to liver, kidney or other organ problems, so please don’t risk it! :nono:

Re: black or dark dark henna

oh yes i have heard of black henna dye and black hair dye linked to kidney problems!!

Re: black or dark dark henna

I’m a professional Henna Artist and I know for sure there is no such thing as Black henna …Henna is only green in colour when it is in powder form and stains maroonish red..but I’m sure you know that already.

The black stuff these people use is PPD Para-phenylenediamine..It can scar you for the rest of your life…It is seriously dangerous..This PPD is used to make stuff to clean the carpets..now we can’t drink that can we..similarly we can’t apply that on our skin..Mehndi only stains the outer layer of our skin..where ppd goes through the skin and into our blood and can give us serious scars…check this link.

If you are looking for something similar to black henna but safe…then there is some thing called Jagua its extract of a fruit from south America. you can apply that ..it will give you a blackish blue stain. which will stay fro about a week or so. another thing is Harqus.

there are couple of websites those sell safe jagua and harqus..let me know if you want to get some.

take care

these are pictures of a friend of mine’s fiance’s hand and i think her mendhi was sooo pretty and unique, i like the look of the black mendhi with this orange-goldish filling…not crazy about her nails but in general i love the outlining of the black and think i may risk it and give that a try.

I figured just try it anywhere (like how with hair dye they tell you to test it behind the ears to make sure there’s no allergic reaction before you apply it to your hair…why not apply that to black mendhi?

Re: black or dark dark henna

^ The harmful effects of black mehndi may not actually show until time has elapsed...so after a tester patch has been carried out with no obvious reactions and the henna has been applied, it may well be too late!

Wow that's beautiful, you could even use body art pens, black to outline it, as long as you didn't wash your hands i suppose, hehe

My mum was tellin me in Pakistan alot of girls get an black outline on their mehndi which looks really nice, she said they used what looked like a pen? Anyone know what they use?
