Black Magic

I was wondering if someone could enlighten me to what is said about BLACK MAGIC in the Quran. I did a few cross reference seraches but didn’t find anything conclusive.

I’ve heard that Black Magic is mentioned in the Quran and I know that it will affect only those who believe in it. It is haram and even shirk to believe in such things but nonetheless it does exsist.

I’ve heard even more references to it when I was in Pakistan. even to the point where it is a tool to do very harmful things. and the word of TAVEEZ comes up a lot. An inscription (supposedly words out of the Quran) on a piece of paper strategically put in someone’s home or I’ve even heard of it being mixed up in a drink. I realize that this sounds ridicoulous and prosposterous but there are a lot of people who believe in it and I’ve talked to first hand enounters. I am a bit confused myself. Who are these people who do this magic? Why is it allowed? What purpose of the Shaitaan does it serve?

I think people actually ‘scare’ themselves into it. It’s kind of like when you tell ghost stories and all of a sudden you are more preceptive to EVERY little thing around you. but this black magic thing is just like that - - only magnified much more in the hearts of disbelievers.

While I’ve presented a lot of theories and heresay.. I’m hopeful that someone can point me to some solid evidence.

I am a firm believer that if your Iman is strong nothing can effect you.

i'm with shahzad on this one. I wonder abt this too. My mom completely believes in it. I know nazr and what not is a part of this also, right?

Visit www.Tafsir.com and look up the commentary of the following verse:

“They followed what the evil ones gave out (falsely) against the power of Solomon: the blasphemers were, not Solomon, but the evil ones, teaching men Magic, and such things as came down at babylon to the angels Harut and Marut. But neither of these taught anyone (such things) without saying: “We are only for trial; so do not blaspheme.” They learned from them the means to sow discord between man and wife. But they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah’s permission. And they learned what harmed them, not what profited them. And they knew that the buyers of (magic) would have no share in the happiness of the Hereafter. And vile was the price for which they did sell their souls, if they but knew!” (Qur’an 2:102)

Also, if you can, try to get hold of a copy of The Exorcist Tradition in Islam by Dr. Bilal Phillips. You can read a little about the book here.

Iqbal

It exists, and its totally haram, vene kufr, to practice it.

There is a line in Al-Koran, I think Surat Annas, which goes:

"I seek protection from ........the women who blow on knots".

Or something Like that, that I think, is a reference to tweed and kala jadoo.

thats surah AL'falaq if im not mistaken :)

Just as I suspected, indeed your version of Islam is different... you believe the "caste-system" to be a part of Islam, and are surprised with Black-Magic...

Different, please do something productive somewhere but not on this forum! Re: your comment, NO COMMENT!

Finally....got cured from effects of Black magic and things in my life have started towards betterment !
