Independence of judiciary can only come if judges respect merit, do not do nepotism, do not misuse power, do not do misconduct, and are not corrupt. Those who want or care for independent judiciary would have supported President Musharraf action of sending reference against Iftikhar to SJC and suspension of Iftikhar during that investigation. They should have patiently waited for SJC report without doing all those ‘bhangra on road’ and should have respected the investigation of SJC.
Those people who think Iftikhar is corrupt and criminal should also wonder why he was not prosecuted after Nov 3. It only goes to show that some dictator was happy with him as long as Iftikhar licked the boots. If Iftikhar had taken oath on Nov 3 some people would've been okay with him today.
