BLA terrorists bomb railway line in Balochistan

This is sickening. Attacking provincial infrastructure does nothing but damage even further the economy of the province. Attacks such as this demonstrate that the BLA is doing nothing but harming Balochistan.

QUETTA, Pakistan, May 1 (Reuters) - Tribal militants fighting for greater autonomy in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Baluchistan blew up a railway track and bridge on Monday, officials said.

The attacks came a day after the government banned Baluch nationalist leaders from travelling outside Pakistan. Three of the ten leaders on the government blacklist were members of parliament.

The militants used heavy explosives to blow up a railway track and bridge in Noushki and Kohlu districts.

Railway officials said six bombs were planted on the track linking the provincial capital Quetta with the Iranian border town of Zahidan, but only two exploded.

“God saved us from great damage as four other bombs did not go off and were defused,” Mushtaq Ahmed, a railway official in Noushki, told Reuters.

A banned militant group, Baluchistan Liberation Army (BLA), claimed responsibility for the attacks.

On Sunday night, rebels in Dera Bugti district fired rockets at a paramilitary wounding two troopers.

Dera Bugti sits atop Pakistan’s largest gas reserves, and is a stronghold of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, a rebel chieftain who accuses the central government of exploiting Baluchistan’s resources without passing on the benefits to ethnic Baluchs.

A simmering conflict in Baluchistan flared anew in December after tribesmen mounted a rocket attack during a visit by President Pervez Musharraf.

Militants regularly blow up gas pipelines, railway lines and electricity transmission lines, and launch rocket attacks on government buildings and army bases.

To win back support in the poorest of Pakistan’s four provinces, Musharraf has announced plans for major infrastructure projects in Baluchistan, which borders Iran and Afghanistan.

Re: BLA terrorists bomb railway line in Balochistan

Let's see what the excuses are this time :|
So who says these morons should be left alone bombing everything in Balochistan???? There is obviously a reason why Army is acting against these jaahil idiots.

Re: BLA terrorists bomb railway line in Balochistan

There is also a reason why they are attacking in the first place. Everything has a reason. I don't think they're doing this for fun.

Re: BLA terrorists bomb railway line in Balochistan

Rumour has it..that the big superpower with boots on the ground to pakistans west may have a role in helping the BLA. It’s an open secret that they are trying to stir up trouble amongst the Baloch in Ayatollah land..so it’s not hard to imagine whats happening is another case of blowback

Re: BLA terrorists bomb railway line in Balochistan

For almost two centuries, Western powers engaged in a strenuous Great Game to block other powers entry into Persian Gulf, Middle East, and Indus Ocean...How can they now allow another power get a foothold in Middle East?

Baluchis have due greviences as how their resources are being plundered to run and build the industrial empires of the Punjab. Everyone community should be allowed to progress on its own terms---plunderous oppression under the guise of Social Darwinist agenda would not work

Re: BLA terrorists bomb railway line in Balochistan

^^ Zakk --- Just another conspiracy theory

^^ Dinoman-- You got it. Balochis have grievances because of ?

A. They are highly educated
B. They are experts in international business
C. They are stuck with poor infrastructure and no jobs.

And the answer is ????

From California, to Arizona, to Sinkiang, to Tibat, to Balochistan (phooeee! a lot of travel around the globe in such a short time), development means more roads, ports, electricity, jobs, .......

Balochis must allow new roads infact if they could learn anything form Pushtoons is that you must be agressive to ask for more roads, tunnels, dams, etc.

Look Pushtoons worked hard, and now taxpayers are putting money down to build Bhasha first. This is the way to go baby!

Baloch should in fact put in a master plan (worth 5 pages) that has the whole province criss-crossed with 6 lane motorways. Then put that plan on every webpage, news source, city halls and town walls.

Beg, plead, convince, cry, shout, whatever you could, and ask for those 6 lanes highways. Put 25% money from your pocket, put even 5% down and go for the roads man.

Soon you will see Balochistan liberated from the ills of Jahilia. Now in the process if some Chaudhry, some Beg, or some Naqvi gets rich so be it. Ultimately roads are linking Balochis and Balochistan. So the benefit (most of it) is for locals.
