BitTorrent

How does it work? Or do you have to pay for it now? I downloaded something but not sure what it is…and I wanted to know if you need a user sign in name and how do u get one?

Re: BitTorrent

you need a bitTorrent client to download torrent files.

http://www.bittorrent.com/

you can use this:
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

I personally use shareaza:
http://www.shareaza.com/?Version=2.1.0.0

Re: BitTorrent

Thank you so much you have always been a great help! :)

Re: BitTorrent

Azureus Rulez!

Re: BitTorrent

Good to see someone besides me uses shareaza aswell. Its the best P2P client out there, hands down. Its useful for more than just bittorrent.

Re: BitTorrent

My shareaza won’t connect…all three of the networks say its disconnected…:crying: …help! I tried the trouble shooting stuff, but nothing works…unless I am doing it wrong…

Re: BitTorrent

you have a router i guess?

will have to setup port forwarding. port 6346

tell me which router you have, then I tell you howto?

Re: BitTorrent

^ how do u figure that out??? :D well some files have downloaded a little bit but now shareaza isn't connected and I restarted but still no luck....

Re: BitTorrent

ok tell me which router you have?
if not then you have XP with SP2? XP firewall might be blocking it then!

Re: BitTorrent

Well I am connected through my uni internet....and my comp is windows XP. I just checked and it seems that Sareaza is currently connected through gnutella2. It takes the connection about 20 minutes to connect....literally. Could there possibly be another problem?

Re: BitTorrent

You have to see the thingi that is connected to your PC and then connects yor PC to the uni internet.. that could be a router or a modem. I am not sure.

You could also have a software firewall installed. But I doubt that, since you said it is connected.

Go to 'Control Panel' in XP and then see if you have an icon there with the name Windows Firewall

Re: BitTorrent

pyaari83, i guess ur bit torrent ports are closed.. to check it goto Port Scanners / WhatsMyIP.org
and under “P2P Port Test” click “check ports”

6881 to 6889 must be open..

Re: BitTorrent

Kulfi, she's using shareaza. It uses only port 6346 by default. (can be changed)

Pyari. check in your shareaza settings.
The port for inboud address:

should look something like this:

Re: BitTorrent

Re: BitTorrent

ab kya.. tell me what router you are using? firewall? whatever it is, something is blocking the port!

Re: BitTorrent

Thanks for helping…its actually working now. What happens is that sometimes its connected for a long time and then all of a sudden it gets disconnected and take 15 mins to connect again. If thats abnormal than I still need help…

Re: BitTorrent

its abnormal :halo:

you need help? whats wrong with you?

Re: BitTorrent

^ :hehe: r u saying I am abnormal or my shareaza??? I used my comp at school with the wireless system I swear at least 10 songs downloaded in 10 mins. I was like  …and at home they take like 2 days to download…:frowning: Don’t know why that is even though I live on campus.

Re: BitTorrent

^ It could be that your university has T1/T3 connection, whereas you've got cable/dsl connection for the campus residence. :p
