Ever since i was a little girl i was
taught to say “Bismillah”(sp?) before
i started a task,
and/or before eating or drinking something.
Now ever since my childhood i have
seen ppl specially woman saying “Bismillah”
if a child falls down or if they drop
something on the floor.
Where in islam/Quran does it talk about
saying Bismillah on the fallig of a child???
I myself am totally against the idea
since it doesn’t make any sense to me!
Any task preceded by 'Bismillah' carries Allah's SWT blessings. You may have noticed that when a child or anyone falls down, people say bismillah in a hurry. The idea is to ensure that 'Bismillah' is said before the fall occurs completely, so as to invoke Allah's mercy, so He keeps the child from getting hurt from the fall.
Its just a concept. Not exactly a bida'a. It comes down to the intention behind it.

saying bismillah before starting any task is okey but the rest is all nonsense.
I don't agree with that. How can one put down the remembrance of Allah swt as nonsense? Perhaps to some it might not make sense to remember Allah swt in such a manner in the situations outlined above, but for some it may, and there's nothing wrong with it. Its simply fulfilling a desire to incorporate the remembrance of Allah swt into all aspect of one's life, and to remember Him at all times.
Allah (swt) should be praised at all times - in good and in adversity.
Whether something of benefit approaches you or something harmful, the first thing that should be pronounced is "Praise be to Allah (swt), Lord of the Worlds".
I dont C what ur dilema is. Akif bhai has very accurately answered ur question. What is it u dont understand ?. Ever wondered what Bismillah means??. Just what is wrong with asking or mentioning Allahs name either at the start, middle, or end. We should do his wird at all times. Remember him all the time
You can read Bismillah on anything which is not Gunnah or Haram.
I don't think falling down is Gunnah or Haram and if one reads Bismillah on that, despite any other benefit just multiply 10 deeds by each letter of whole Bismillah.
You didn't lose anything did you?
