For kids you could do 'Frozen' theme seeing as that it very popular nowadays.

Tuna pasta bake works everytime and kids looove it !!
Add also macaroni salad, from kids to elders, always a hit.
Chicken leg broast also ?

My nephew's birthday
So for my son's first birthday I did a burger bar with chicken and beef burgers all the condiments/toppings . Also served sandwiches and crudités. We had a rainbow theme with decorations and cake to reflect. 2nd birthday was a pizza party with takeaway pizza and homemade meat and veggie lasagne. Both party menus went down well. This year I may do text mex or middle eastern.
