Re: birthday gifts from spouse?
we don't exchange gifts. It's pointless and waste of money and TIME to get things that are not needed.
We end up giving stuff that are needed for the home.
We don't even have to have dinners outside. Sometimes we make something special at home.
For anniversaries, we have made a tradition to take a trip every year, just me and hubby. It's a lifetime worth of memories for us to enjoy when we are old and gray.
Re: birthday gifts from spouse?
2 months in advance? Hubby's bday was last week and we were in transit for our vacation to Mauritius. I had no gift for him and couldn't even take him out for dinner. 4 days after his bday, we went parasailing..and that was my gift to him. My bday comes 4 days after our wedding anniversary. So I don't expect him to get me 2 gifts. In fact I think we'll take a week long vacation and that'll cover both. Last year, my bday was 4 days after the wedding, he surprised me with a little trip to Scotland on my bday..which was also a lil honeymoon for us.
I don't like giving shirts etc as gifts because they don't feel very meaningful to me. Last year, when we were engaged, I didn't buy anything. I made him a card and wrote a little poem. So yeah, we don't spend months trying to shop for gifts. It'll mostly be spontaneous stuff or travels or I prefer fun activities like we did parasailing.

Well, flawedsoul, if you can go to Scotland and Mauritius for your birthdays and anniversaries, ofcourse you’d find a shirt boring ![]()
Re: birthday gifts from spouse?
Gift is necessary , it makes the receiver really very happy ,
and in my opinion, Money is the best gift, and card is the worst
Women should also give some gift, it makes men happy, although most of men are not expressive,
But if wife do not give gifts they do not mind either
, (unlike women)
Re: birthday gifts from spouse?
Actually I live in Europe so flying to Scotland was pretty cheap. And Mauritius was our honeymoon which we were saving up for. I wouldn’t know if it’s something that can happen every year but I just find clothing items non-personal. shrug. I rather hubby make me a card or something than buy clothing items etc. Hubby is the same. Now ofcourse if there’s a special piece of clothing that hubby has been wanting for too long or something, then yeah I’d go for it. But otherwise, clothes we can buy ourselves. Which is why I prefer something which has a more personal touch.
