Ok back to the topic, If I was you I wouldnt get my self into trouble thinking about ''unique'' gift n all, I would just buy him perfume, a tie with cufflinks, shirt or probably men jewellary if he is into tht :-)

Apart from perfumes and ties we also like sporting goods i.e. a good tennis rackets or fishing roods :)
Or may be a good guitar or some other music instrument
umm ... what else ... one day passes to Disney land or tickets for a concert :D
and some thing Koool for my car
or may be eXternal hard drives and topnotch video cards ...
and ... ummm ... may be year long subscription of News Week :)
