how do i make my son’s 7th birthday more meaningful and memorable?
the truth is, i come from a family where birthday celebrations are not important. i’ve neva cared much for birthdays, its gud in its own way but my boy is always bugging me for a celebration, he loves cutting cake and getting gifts, giving away goodies bags to his friends and all tat.
kya karoun, i’m his mom na ![]()
so i indulge him
this year he’s turning 7 and da idea of doing da same old stuff is making me dread da preparations.
pls share ur ideas.
are there any meaningful lessons i can instill in him abt birthdays? how?
Re: birthday celebrations
Nisa, just b/c you don't like to celebrate your birthday that doesn't mean you should deprive your son of it. I think its a personal choice to not want to, and that's fine, but if a kid wants a nice b-day, it'd be kinda cruel and mean to just not give it to him. Since we're not talking abt the "My super Sweet 16" MTV trash, i dont think that what he's asking for is out of the question...if he wants cake cutting and gifts and goodie bags, why not? He's been through alot this year, he should have a lil bit of khushi :)
Re: birthday celebrations
take him to chucky cheeses and a few of his friends and let the little ones have a grt time..
i m taking my 11 yr old to the skating ring .. they love it when the puppet / sings happy birthday to them..
Re: birthday celebrations
Its been a bother to me also about how much is spent on bdays for little ones. We do "big" birthdays - when 5 years old, thats big so we give a party with friends at a great place or have hired activities. Other birthdays are for family and friends. It is SO costly to do a party - literally expext to pay 1000 US or more. Thats really alot of money yeah? too much for every bday. Anyway, we always have balloons, cake with candles and presents. For the big bdays, we did one at a dance studio with a 1hour class of fun and games then pizza and cake. One we did at home with a 3-foot long deli sandwich with salads and also pizza and we hired a pony-ride place to come to our house to give pony rides. Both were smashing success. But not something we'd do for every bday.
