Re: Birth Stories
Amazing stories...you all are brave...so were our mothers. :) You appreciate them more after having kids? My sis tells me she does.
Re: Birth Stories
Awww girls don’t be scared… the fact that women can give birth just re-enstates the fact that we… women…we’re goddesses.. ![]()
and you can always play the ‘i gave birth’ card to your hubby if he complains about anything! ![]()
Seriously, forget about the ‘giving birth’ part as it’s nothing compared to what happens after…it’s the most breathtaking, life changing moment of your life… i can’t wait till all you newlyweds experience it ![]()

On a serious note, I did not realise how many complications and how it isn’t all hunky dory. You ladies have opened up my eyes ten-fold. Tearing, screaming and pooping were not something I allied to childbirth.
It does make me appreciate my mother even more than I already do. No wonder they say Jannat is beneath your mother’s feet. Mashallah our mothers and our ancestors go through so much and for those of us who have not experienced it, it just seems like another event.
For enlightening me ladies, don’t worry, if I am blessed with having children in the future ishallah, I will come here and share an in-depth experience of the childbirth.
Re: Birth Stories
SGC and Sumorani, I am the biggest wimp in the world and was scared very very much. I got epidurals both time and still was scared as hell. I had long labors, first was 36 hours and teh secnd 16. It wasn't that bad. I did tear both times and had an episiotomy as well but I wouldn't ahve known it until they told me about it. If at all the nausea etc was bad for me, but it isn't usually as bad as it was for me for most women. So if everybody can do it, so can you.
*two *sets of twins??!!!! whoa! Mash'Allah!
Yeah she has her hands full, they are 4 years apart, each set. 1st are 2 fraternal brothers. Second set is fraternal boy/girl Mashallah.
Re: Birth Stories
and someone mentioned nausea. With all this medical research and all, they REALLLY need to find a simple cure for nausea and all day sickness. :( Sometimes even Zofran doesn't make it all go away!! :(
Re: Birth Stories
Ladies, like you, i was also afraid of childbirth. But when i was ready for a baby mentally, the pain was just part of the process. Even though as soon as Kanzah was born, i told hubs, we are not having any more kids, i can already feel myself forgetting how painful it was. And i know i am going to miss this infant stage as she grows up. Women all over the world do it again and again, just because of the beautiful end product.
Re: Birth Stories
Congrats on birth of your daughter Ira. Did you post up pics?

Re: Birth Stories
congrats on the pregnancy :)
nothing is gonna happen later on in the pregnancy.. all ure symptoms are very normal for a pregnant woman so dont worry ok... as for peeing whilst coughin sneezing vomiting, thats also normal.. but u can try diff pelvic floor exercises .. like kegals.
u can know the gender of ure baby around the 4th month..
baby will come when its good and ready... just pray it comes healthy and in its own time.. first time babies usually are late... but nothing is written in stone.
Re: Birth Stories
baby no 1:
i was 9 days over my due date...i had the 'show' at home, contractions were strong and frequent...hubby was still in Pakistan, so dad got the car ready (petrol crisis was going on...no-one was allowed to drive just in case we had no petrol left for the hospital journey...lol)
at the hospital they put on the monitor and told me i was doing 'whoppas' with the contractions and that i would be ready to push, but when they did the internal i had not dilated at ALL..they told me i needed to go home..but i had other plans the internal made me vomit non stop.
i had a long 36 hours at hospital, but my baby wasn't budging, i had only dilated 4 cm, contractions were strong and i'd had several top ups of teh epidural....my waters were broken...which were a weird greenish colour...baby had poo'd inside the womb...so needed to be delivered asap...
the doctor asked me to sign a c-section consent form...as i was signing mum was pulling the pen off me saying don't sign and i kept saying just get this baby out...
anyways 38 hours later i had a beautiful baby girl by c-section...weighing 7lbs, she looked up at me with the most beautiful eyes...i had never seen anything as beautiful as her in my life....i just held her and cried tears of happiness
Re: Birth Stories
baby no 2:
at 18 weeks, the doctors came across +1 protein in my urine...by 28 weeks it was +3 and my BP was sky high., i had Pre-Eclampsia..i was admitted into hospital given steroid injections to help strengthen baby's lungs and monitored... till 32 weeks i was in and out of hospital...totally resting but my Bp kept rising.
at this point they gave me medication to bring the Bp down...i started hyperventilating...i was taken to the high dependency unit, a catheter was put in to keep an eye on my kidney function and i was acompanied by a midwife at all times, i chilled out with the midwife, one morning me and my favourite midwife Nisha were sat chatting reminiscing over Charles and Camilla's wedding and preparing to watch the Pope's funeral that the doctor came in and checked my BP, it had gone even higher than usual and i had little urine output....the doc stayed with us for another hour and kept me relaxed but my BP was not dropping...they had no choice but to operate and deliver my baby...i called my hubby...they delivered my baby boy at 33weeks, weighing in at 3lb.12 oz.. they showed him to me, my husband stroked his face and he was whisked off to the neo-natal unit...i had taken a turn for the worst...Bp dropped rapidly...
i was given a photo of my baby a few hours later...he was in an incubator, in a nappy, with all sorts of wires and tubes attached to him...and he was crying....it broke my heart
i never got to see my baby till the next day...they let me cuddle him for 5 minutes...he was so tiny....i hated myself i felt i was to blame for everything
over the next week i recovered and my baby was feeding better(NG tube fed), i then managed to establish breast feeding, my BP was improving...it took 6 weeks for it to regulate.
we took our tiny baby home 15days after he was born...he never needed any oxygen at birth and made brilliant progress....he is now 4 years old and i still consider myself lucky and Thank Allah SWT....he's my very special boy
Re: Birth Stories
baby no 3 came as a total surprise
pregnancy was hard… i was told throughout that i have a history of Pre-Eclampsia so i was monitored closely (it was so annoying) and i had no choice but to have a 3rd c-section,
the symptoms of Pre-eclampsia kicked in mid pregnancy i was given aspirin to help regulate my BP…i was stressed out but adamant that my baby will not be early…i was fast approaching 33 weeks…it came and went by to my relief, but come 34 weeks i was admitted to hospital again, deja vu… i knew the drill this time… first the steroid injection, i told them i was allergic to the BP medication…and i knew the symptoms when my BP rose…my c-section was scheduled for 38 weeks, but my BP shot up again at 36 weeks, so at 36 weeks i had a baby boy weighing 5lbs7 oz..he was handed to me straight away…he cried when i picked him up and when he saw me, i handed him over to his dad, he calmed down and looked up at him with his big beady eyes…my hubby finally got to hold one of his babies…![]()
Alhmadulilah he was fit and well and i took him home 5 days later…
c-section 3rd time round is a killer
