Have any of you tried it? How effective was it? Pros? Cons? I am in need of help, please tell me any other methods to get rid of acne.

I think you should visit your dermatologist and see what he has to say first.

Its a good topic. I used to have such bad acne problems in middle school that the kids used to call me Klingon - remember that character from Star Wars tv show? - the acne was only on my forhead, and it just would not go away.

  1. How old are you - if you're a teen, then its going to pass with time.

  2. Don't touch the acne - it will spread that way.

  3. Wash your face - they gave me a special soap to use - I think it was some kind of a glycerin soap - don't remember - that helped

  4. Take a commercial anti-acne medicine - back then clearasil was really big - and use like multiple products on your face. I came to realize that one doesn't do much. And skip days - because it seems that the bacteria can adapt to that stuff (not positive though, but I noticed that skipping days helped).

  5. This helped a little - take pure alcohol and dab your face using a cottonball...alcohol can lyse bacterial cells, so that would help a little.

dermatologists are good for nothing - very few of them know their stuff to be quite honest. You can go to 3 different ones, and they'll each tell you something different.

^ but doesnt it effect you after u get married.... my friend who got married like 5 years ago.. she and her husband decide they dont wanna have kids for next 2 years so that couple would enjoy the enjoy in a better way.. so she always take birth pills and stuffs... but after 2 years when they were ready to have kids.. she wouldnt get pregnant... and doc said u took too much pills already may be thats why u arent.. but alhamdullillah she is now pregnant after 3 years of prayers and tension... dont u think it can become harmfull?

That’s weird. The hormones in birth control pills that prevent pregnancy are supposed to get peed right out of the body within a couple of days of taking the pills - that’s what makes it very important to take the pills regularly if you’re on them.

pp i think thats just one case..usually ppl take it for years you know until they are done having kids

I belive Ortho-tricyclin is supposed to help with acne. Thats how it is advertised a lot. Didnt work for me though, gave me cramps etc. You could try it if your derm thinks its the right choice for you. PLus PCG had good tips, although i dont know abt dabbing alcohol on the face. I find it too drying and making my pores overwork to produce more oil than usual :)

also birth control pills take about a 3 month to really work. just go to ur dermatologist and ask him/her. i know som girls who went on the pill just so they wudnt have their period while on hajj and got off it right after. so pills aren't that harmful.

sounds like an isolated case to me too. Most people come off of bc pills and are pregnant w/in a 6 month-year period. Then agan whatever Allah swt wills.

Of course some people even get pregnant when they're on the pill like my next door neighbour. It's all in the hands of Allah swt.
I took birth control pills for acne. They were called Dianette, it did help but I still had to go to my dermatologist who gave me Roaccutane which worked wonders.
