there are many birth control pills on the market (impulse you should know this) yes some have side effect (ie weight gain, bloating etc) if one pill doesnt work for you...you use the other one.
as far as not being able to get pregnant and having complications during pregnancy ..this is ALL a myth. Doctors wouldnt give you meds like this if it compromised having children....would have been off the market by now if it did.
doctors dont tell u all the side effects....cuz that would scare a patient off.
even we are told not to tell patients all the side effects cuz it would scare them.

Khumar, docs n users can say lal they want, but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable messing wtih pills. My friend worked in a pharmacy and told me some horror stories about Seasonal and other pills..

how can you know what a medication does to you unless you try it yourself? Even I’m told that not every medication effects everyone the same way, and i’m studying psychology. I’m saying all of that stuff that mothers and other women have tried. myself included.

its not ALL a myth. Even if you were a doctor or Medical Researcher you couldnt say for sure what kind of side effects a certain pill or drug has, esp. in the future. Everything gets updated every couple of years, so you never know

you dont need a doctor to tell you the side effects...its all written in the pamplets that come with any medication. Those side effects are very slim....by law they are required to mentioned it....even if only 1 person was affected by it.

i agree....i didnt mean that ALL were myths...i meant that the part about having complications etc. pills have been out for centuries.....they are generally safe. anything used for long term is not of course.

AS WELL AS having read many different studies done.
yes we study psychology too..health related psychology.....i dont see how that has anytihng to do with side effects of pills. thats more to do with ill people and why some people choose to seek help and others dont etc.etc. boring stuff :p

once again…by law they are required to put those side effects down…even if ONE person dies from it…or ONE person has brain hemmorages etc.

not every pill has the same formula. the basic recipe is the same, but it's different for different companies and different ailments. there is the light pill, once upon a time there used to be a pill that was like huge like a tylenol. big dosage difference.
i learned in uni that people tend to remember odd, exciting, different things. mundane stuff like what you ate for dinner, what route you take to school, etc that kind of stuff is hardly memorable. therefore, it is more likely that people remember horror stories more than good stories. horror stories get told more often. therefore, it seems like more bad stuff happens than good. i mean, if it was going all right with me, i am less likely to let people know. but if something goes wrong, i am more likely to sell my story to CNN. know what i mean?
but to each her own. i was hesistant. but alhamdullilah, that was the cure that i was seeking for my ailments, and alhamdullilah, it worked for me.

you're referring to the patient information leaflet...yeah that has a list of side effects written on it.....ever read any of them and see how long the list is?

i know anything long term isnt good for your body...so yea,,,personally i think using the pill everyday for 5 yrs....is not good for your health.

oh yea i have......i always do on any medication...once again...that doesnt mean that they are common side effect. in fact they arent.

thats very true.....soem drugs have been on the market...only to be taken off a few years later when they realised that it killed so many people!
in fact theres even one which was given to pregnant women and alot of them died......because the drug was a different isomer of the original one....
some of the side effects maybe no1 knows about until many years later

khumar....yea some pills actually have cured certain ailemts. like heavy bleeding etc.
