Birth control and abortion are not hte same thing. Abortion is the killing of a fetus. Contraceptives prevent a pregnancy from taking place, hence there is no fetus, no killing of it, so it's not an abortion.
All the information Iv'e read says that only (elective) permanent forms of birth control are not allowed, such as gettng ur tubes tied or a vasectemy.. condoms, pills etc r allowed, tho in my opinion nothing prevents pregnancy except not doing it. So u can take pills, use condoms, but if ur not prepared for a happy suprrise :) then don't do it :)
