Re: Birminghamians

Serious Q, is Bham violent, I recall the lozell's violence 2 years ago. Is there serious black/asian tension?

is there a lot to do there?

Re: Birminghamians

*Its not THAT violent and it really depends on which area you're in. *

There is absolutely loads to do here.

Re: Birminghamians

What do you mean by "its not that violent"?

What parts are violent?

What parts are "nice"?

Re: Birminghamians

Well there's probably a couple of shootings every couple of monthes....and quite a few robberies but that's looking at the city as a whole. Areas you'd probably want to avoid are Lozells, Nechells, Handsworth..
Most of the violence is concentrated in those areas so other places like Moseley, Edgbaston, Harborne etc are pretty nice.

Re: Birminghamians

Just a guess, but are the said areas high in black populations?

I bet they are.

Re: Birminghamians

Salam ji,

What is the postal code for Birmingham City Centre, is it B15, Edgbaston, or something else.

Please a website for the city center?

Re: Birminghamians

Re: Birminghamians

I have an Indian friend in the Birmingham police force and he has never encountered any racism during several years of work. However English people tend to get on better with Indians.

Other areas with a high asian and/or black population are Aston and Winson Green.

Re: Birminghamians

Is there a postcode map available somewhere?

Re: Birminghamians

xxx.birmingham.gov.uk/GenerateContent?CONTENT_ITEM_ID=892&CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE=0&MENU_ID=199

Not a postcode map, however.

Bordsley Green, Smallheath, Sparkbrook and Sparkhill (maybe mentioned above) have high asian populations. The area marked Soho in the above map includes Handsworth/Winson Green.

Kingstanding has a lot or racist white people. Well it used too, not sure about now.

Note-replace the xxx with www it wouldn't let me post urls until after 25 posts.

Re: Birminghamians

Thanks.

I am not familiar with Bham. Just trying to find what areas are near the centre.
