^ Yes Jang is reporting today that he has declined....No news at the end I guess.

Aaqib offered Bangladesh post!

Aaqib Javed, former Pakistan fast-bowler and chief coach of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), has been offered the bowling coach’s position for the Bangladesh national team. The offer was made during Pakistan Academy’s tour of Bangladesh on which, Aaqib served as the coach.
“The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials came up with the offer during an informal chat while we were in Dhaka. But I plainly told them to give me at least a couple of weeks to think about it,” Aaqib told the daily Dawn. “I don’t want to make any hasty decision due to my other commitments.”
Aaqib, a vital member of the World Cup winning team in 1992, is also backed by many to land the job of Pakistan’s national coach. Nasim Ashraf, chairman PCB, reportedly backed Aaqib’s credentials during an ad hoc committee meeting in Lahore last month.
However, Aaqib, who also coached the U-19 World Cup-winning teams of 2004 and 2006, is unconcerned with these reports. “Why should I worry or lose my sleep over it?” he asked. “But if the offer comes my way, I’ll certainly consider taking up the challenge as a great honour.”
** Pakistan go into this month’s three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi with Talat Ali acting as manager-cum-coach.

Re: Birds may Fly away - Aaqib offered BD Coach position

i think he should deserve to be a bowling coach of Pakistan & he has every right in exploring diff opportunities if Pak will not need him.

Re: Birds may Fly away - Aaqib offered BD Coach position

If PCB doesn't offer him the role of head coach for the national team, I think Aaqib will be foolish not to accept the role of Bangladesh cricket team. This assumes, of course, that a formal offer will be made to him by Bengladesh cricket board.

there r better candidates available than Aqib :chai:

Pakistan Juniors impressed Down Under, says coach

  • By Mohammad Yaqoob*
LAHORE, May 3: Pakistan Juniors gave the formidable Aussie Under-19 team a run for their money on their recent tour Down Under, said coach Mohsin Sheikh who submitted his tour report to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday.

Terming last month’s tour as highly successful and satisfactory, Mohsin recommended at least six players as big future hopes for Pakistan cricket following their impressive performances against the Australians.

The national under-19 side played five one-day matches against Australian juniors during April 2007 in a well-contested series that ended at 3-2 in favour of hosts.

"We bounced back from 2-0 down to level the series 2-2 before losing the final by 19 runs which is definitely a commendable show from our boys,” Mohsin told Dawn on Thursday.

** An Australia-based Pakistani who is currently employed with the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, Mohsin passed both level-I and II coaching courses from Australia with flying colours a year ago.**

“It was a series which fully tested the mental and playing strengths of both the sides,” disclosed Mohsin. “When Pakistan went into the fourth ODI 2-1 down and were set a target of 310 for victory, our boys were under tremendous pressure. But fine knocks from opener Shan Masood (90) and middle-order batsman Umar Amin (98) enabled us to pull off an improbable win at 311 for six in 46.3 overs.”

** Mohsin, who is eyeing a Masters degree from an Australia University in sports coaching that also encompasses specialist human movement and bio-mechanics**, said besides Shan Masood (Karachi) and Umar Amin (Rawalpindi), the other outstanding batsmen on the tour were Taimur Ali (Quetta) and Imad Wasim (Islamabad).

Mohsin was all praise for left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir from Rawalpindi, Junaid Khan (Abbotabad) and Shahzeb Khan of Karachi who impressed the coach with their speed and seam movement.

The coach claimed that the playing conditions in Australia at this time of the year were not totally conducive to the Pakistan team but his players played superb cricket to go down fighting in the series.

“The pitches were hard and bouncy Down Under and since the floodlights at the grounds were installed at a much lower level than usual, the light would often bounce off the sight screen to cause problems for our players,” he added. “But they still stuck to their task and almost won the series.”

Mohsin disclosed that Cricket Australia had fielded three overaged players in the five-match series but had informed the Pakistan team management of the move prior to the start of the series. “All-rounder Simon Keen, pacer Coulita Nile and batsman Phil Hughes were all over 19 years of age,” said Mohsin. “Their presence did make a difference in the final ODI when Keen took 5-44 and Hughes scored 74 to win the match for the hosts.”

To a question, he said Pakistan was aiming for the next Junior World Cup in Malaysia, scheduled for in March 2008. “But before that, we have a tough tour of England coming up in July.”

** Of his own decision to join the NCA, Mohsin said: “I am really keen to assist in any way towards improvement of junior cricket structure. It is ironic that while the senior players in Pakistan enjoy all the support and financial benefits, there’s hardly any focus on junior cricket that needs to made effective in order to groom the replacements for our senior players," he concluded.

Re: Birds may Fly away - Aaqib offered BD Coach position

Bangladesh want Aqaib to become there bowling coach; may be they have some one else in mind to become their head coach.

May be Aaqib should consider the offer from Bangladesh and gain more international experience at a senior level and prove his worth before he gets chance to work with the Pakistan senior side.

Re: Birds may Fly away - Aaqib offered BD Coach position

" We need a computer literate qualified coach and if some one has any objection the way we are selecting a coach by advertising the post we cannot help them ",he replied to a question that Pakistan former captains Intikhab Alam and Javed Miandad have decided not to apply for the post objecting on the process of selection.

He said team needs a coach who can polish their skills and point out weaknesses of players and to take remedial measures.

He said PCB was in process of forming a players pool in which money will be pumped in to spend on players producing fine performances while serving the game internationally or domestically.

"We want to find out at least 300 players from domestic cricket to reward their performance by giving them monthly salaries besides increasing cash incentives for members of our national team ",he said.

" Through that process the regional cricket and associations would be strengthened as they will be nominating the players and the gap between international cricket and domestic cricket will be minimised and by that Pakistan domestic cricket will become competitive ",he said.

PCB Chief said those who will be performing well in international matches would be given double cash incentives to acknowledge their individual show .

He said these recommendations would be the part of the players central contract which will be having A-B-C categories and players performing in B or C categories will be elevated to the A." It will be a clear performance based formulae and players will be promoted to different categories based on their performance not on seniority",he added.

He said Asif was the best choice as the vice captain and ad-hoc committee believes he has all the abilities and talent to assist the captain.

" He has been a best performer and has a future in the game, that is why he has been assighned the job ",he added.

Dr Nasim Ashraf said the meeting of central organising committee of world cup 2011 will be held next month in Murree instead of this month because of engagements of respective officials of cricket boards.

PCB Chief said he has not yet received the findings of the probe committee which was given the task to determine the facts responsible for Pak teams poor show in the World Cup.

He said Pak team will attend various training camp's first at Abbottabad from June 12, second in July in Quetta and third at Karachi in August to prepare for a one day match series in July in England and for 20-20 world cup in South Africa in September.

Aaqib Javed to guide the young Bangladeshi pacers

Former Pakistan fast bowler Aaqib Javed will offer specialised coaching and expert opinion to a group of select fast bowlers at the Grameenphone Pacer Hunt Phase Three camp.

Aaqib, who was the coach of the world-cup winning Pakistan U-19 team in 2006, will arrive in Dhaka on Monday and will work with the pacers at the camp on the technical and non-technical aspects of fast bowling. Re: Birds may Fly away - Aaqib offered BD Coach position

Fascinating! Aaqib Javed is picked by Bangladesh now, as their (temporary) bowling coach. Great for Aaqib, and even more great for Bangladesh.

I don't know where to start. First Waqar, after performing so tactfully as our bowling coach and had dealt with players on a professional level, well, he was gleefully responded by being thrown to the dogs. PCB, the judge, jury and executioner. Now even Aaqib Javed, he is being let go? What in God's name is going on? No Waqar or Aaqib as bowling coach? Are we ever going to get someone as half-decent as them? I mean, unbelievable. Anyone who has true interest of his nation at heart is of no value to PCB. Foreign coach, foreign coach, foreign coach...
