Re: Bios setup Utility.
Did you try googling , there are default password listed in many articles if you google" bios password reset."
for example look at this article:
Re: Bios setup Utility.
yeah i tried these sites and these passwords, no luck. i read somewhere that if you take the CMOS battery out BIOS setting go to default and thus will allow me to access the BIOS. I also read that the BIOS password are on the flash ROM of the firmware of my comp, what the heck does that mean Mirch?
Re: Bios setup Utility.
i forgot to add, its a Phoenix BIOS.
Re: Bios setup Utility.
Phoenix BIOS 'backdoor' passwords include BIOS, CMOS, phoenix, and PHOENIX. Give those a try....
What is the laptop model? In most new laptops the password is not stored in the BIOS. It is stored in a Security chip that will never reset when you disconnect the battery. Do not waste your time opening your computer and unplugging the battery.
Re: Bios setup Utility.
Never seen this issue . So I do not know if you can flash and update your BIOS even if it is password protected , if you can then it might solve your problem. I have flashed and upgraded BIOS many a times
Here is a link to an article on this subject:

Re: Bios setup Utility.
Modern laptops don’t allow easy hacking of the forgotten BIOS passwords, specially Sony Vaio. There are methods, but I wont tell you those here :halo: But anyways, if you have a genuine owned Laptop, then you can contact the vendor, in this case Sony to reset the password for you. Just take it to any Official Sony dealer, and they will do it for you.
