Interesting update:
Yemen has formally refused to accept Bin Laden’s Yemeni wife as being a Yemeni citizen, so neither her nor her children can be deported to Yemen.
Saudi Arabia has formally similarly refused to accept any of Bin Laden’s wives or children held by Pakistan.
The wives and children are now in a legal grey area. I think that they can essentially be held in custody indefinately as there is no place in the world that they can legally live freely in now.
They don’t have any immigration status in Pakistan. They cannot apply for asylum as they are not being persecuted in any other country. They cannot be deported as they aren’t citizens of any other country.
