As of June 15, 2008 he will join Gates and Milenda Foundation for Global Health and Education, full time. This is good to know that he wants to spend more time giving back to the same world, of which he became the richest man. He will remain a part time chairman and technical advisor for Microsoft.

I got this vibe from him at our last meeting; he was particularly anxious to establish himself as the greatest philanthophist in the world. Following in the footsteps of Andrew Carnegie, if you will.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation currently has $30 billion, yes with a B, in assets.
By the way, it is in 2008. He announced it two years in advance to allay market fears and so that Microsoft does not loose core talent to companies like Google. It's a good strategic move.
