I think it is hight time that BBZ should stay in background and leave the position of PPP chairpwerson. Let senior most and seasoned politician free from any scandal should take over PPP if PPP really wants to be remain as national party. BBZ is not ready to lead. Instead of delivering written and dictated speeches in childish vioce he shoul be involved in well being of poor people, build his political foundation and populairty from gross roots and not by using his grand father and mother connections. They did not become top politiicans in one day by using ancetors' connection but as a result of hard work, struggle and sufferings at hands of dictators, they attended zenith of Pakistani politics.

But all this time he was projected as the real leadership. Wouldnt this back-paddling hurt the party? It has already lost grounds in three provinces. Only Interior Sind is left that too on the name of Bhutto

It is matter of time. If PPP do not change its leadership, it will lose Sindh too. A great change is needed in PPP if it remains to be a national and popular party. Zardari’s gamble on BBZ is not working. Again bring seasoned and mature politician with no scandal to lead PPP. It is better for PPP and it is better for the country too.
I was in school when Benazir won the elections in 1988. But being raised in a highly politically mature family, I started reading about PPP as there was so much noise all around. I found that PPP was infact the only democratic party working in Pakistan and on pure democratic basis. Like they had internal elections etc. None of the rivals PML etc had that system. In Karachi they had a office behind Quaid’s mazar where these internal elections used to take place.
and then everything got moved to Clifton and the house which later got named as Bilawal-house. And from there party started getting confined more and more into the hands of feudal lords only. Zardaris were among them.
Benazir being brought up and educated as the iconic political leader should have seen that coming. But she didnt. Clearly means she wasnt that visionary leader.
Asif Zardari turned the party’s vision from socialism to capitalism and ultimately corruption. The final nail was Benazir’s death afterwhich Zardari swiftly removed the actual political heirs Naheed Khan etc from the party and now its a token party only on the name of Bhutto.
So remove Bilawal’s name and what remains there? Nothing. PPP is almost gone.
Don’t agree. The change is the need of party. An old and seasoned politician should take over, he will be more loyal to party than AAZ or BBZ. Those who refused to join PML(N) or PTI suggest that ZAB is still alive and their ideal. Let them takeover.
But if they do so , do you expect that bhutto vote will be available. After all PPP has nothing else to showcase except bhutto and free jobs with out work for their workers.
What political leadership is left there? Thats why I mentioned the biggest mistake of alienating Naheed Khan group. Even Amin Fahim was sidelined. Now its all about money.
After all BBZ is not real Bhutto. But people of Sindh has continued electing PPP. It is not because BBZ is representative of ZAB it is because of ZAb’s PPP which still works much better than other political parties for the benefit of Sindh and its people. PPP will win even BBZ and AAZ are not there. Believe me.
They mostly belonged to Punjab now. Any one has the capapbility of leading PPP. Ex chairman senagte, Babar Awan, Aitezaz Ahsan, Qamar Zaman etc are there to lead PPP in much better way to revive it as national party. AP is expert on PPP, I want to know what he is thinking.

PPP needs a rebuild. Just like a completely lost sports team does.
Bilawal should be the anchor person. He has to lead very strongly. Much more than he has shown so far. And the whole rebuilt process should focus strongly on youth. They have to focus on youth issues and bring them into streamline. Thats how PTI did in last few years. And they did a remarkable job.
So think outside the box. PPP needs a overhaul. You dont do it now, you’ll lose the only province very soon too. I can guarantee.
He simply dont have this capacity to rebuild a party hijacked by corrupt and conventional so called leaders who are his uncles as well. Further Firs tone should believe in what he is delivering… I dont think bilawal actually knows about what he is talking… he is soo ir relevant to local politicis…

I do not believe party members have any more say in the affairs, there are only two chiefs of the party i.e. Asif Zardari and Faryal Talpur, everyone else is just their londa / londi who work for the 2 chiefs.
May be there were elections, but the only reason Benazir chose to participate in PPP was when she was made life-time chief, the elections you may have seen/heard-of could be for rank-file posts? When someone is life-time chair of the party how does it remain ‘democratic’?
Oh at that rank everyone is the same way. IK is unanimous party chairman and so on and so forth.
Benazir was lifetime because she was identified as the “only” political heir of Bhutto, the name which is worshipped by the party followers. And remember that was the feud between her and Murtuza. It was out in the open.
The party really had a spine till 1990 and before that the way they survived Zia’s wrath was remarkable. As I said earlier, everything went down the drain as soon as Zardari entered the picture.
Bilawal is still freaking after his and his father’s name is put on ECL. If he is really honest in getting rid of his father, he would take that action as blessing in disguise. but he is same as other PPP hard core feudal selling liberalism or socialism or whatever desi liberals fantasize.

Not really. PPP still enjoys the reputaion of true damocratic party. However it has been restricted to Sindh only is major concern and not good for Pakistan. After ZAB, NS played regional politics with help of ISI and successful. Zardari on the otherhand was more like oppotunist, true cunning paki politican, helped NS to keep it as regional role. For reversing back to national, a true powerful leadership is needed. BBZ is just not ready for that.
