Re: Biggest non Pakistani populations in Pakistan...
no I really want to understand what the definition of pakistani and non pakistani is here.
so what is a pakistani and what is a non pakistani.
I can understand when someone writes afghans, because they are citizens of another country who are now in Pak temporarily (supposedly).
but for Biharis, especially those who were in bangladesh, they were Pakistanis then, they were Pakistanis when they moved from east Pakistan which became BD to west pakistan which was the remaining Pakistan.
so how are they non-pakistanis? and how is their offspring non pakistani? can u imagine telling a kid of bihari background who is born and raised in Pakistan, or some Bihari who first moved to east pakistan, and then did the migration again to come to west Pakistan, or those who spent years in those bihari camps in bangladesh, with the Pakistani flag hoisted at the entrance to the camp and Pa national anthem played every day.. that he is considered non Pakistani?
I think the terminology may be a little off here. I know you did nt come up with it, but my reason for asking the question was to illustrate the isue with the terminology and what it appears to be saying.
Re: Biggest non Pakistani populations in Pakistan...
I just took this thread to mean people from other countries living in Pakistan (citizenship not withstanding). Sorta like Pakistani-Americans and African-Americans etc.
Re: Biggest non Pakistani populations in Pakistan...
aren't biharis pakistanis as well? the topic is about non pakistanis
And why the heck aren't Afghans Pakistanis, specially those born in Pakistan???
Re: Biggest non Pakistani populations in Pakistan...
because in most cases asylees children do not get automatic citizenship of the country they are present in. It varies country to country. Not sure of the Laws in Pakistan but from recent news as they talk about repatriation of the afghans, it appears that the refugees and their children, including those born in pakistan do not have legal standing as citizens of Pakistan.
If the people moving, move as immigrants and become citizens that is one thing, but refugees are not considered citizens.
Afghans who immigrate and become citizens are as Pakistani as someone who has been there for 50 generations, or the chinese guy who moved and became a citizen.
Re: Biggest non Pakistani populations in Pakistan...
I swear it was a pretty simple question...
Im not referring to different types of Pakistanis im referring to immigrant populations...
So things like Chinese, Tajiks, Somnalis etc were the kind of answers i was thinking of...

Perhaps the only sane pov in this thread. Talk about giving people a little rope to hang themselves.
For mijaaaaaaaar-tee of Pakistanis, Pakistan and Pakistaniat are tied to their ethocentricity. If you are not a Butt, you are not a Pakistani.
Time to adopt some modern thinking, people.

my point exactly!

[mod] If anyone starts the punjabi vs mohajir argument again be prepared for warning points.[/mod]
I think you're the worst moderater in all of GS; and believe me I'm not the only one. You erase my post when I was making the exact same point you are. Geez; how 'bout using ur brain once in a while.

Yes indeed!
Re: Biggest non Pakistani populations in Pakistan...
Anil Khan the topic of this thread is to collect information about non-pakistani populations residing in Pakistan not picking on people of other provinces and labelling them non-pakistanis nor promoting love and brotherhood between karachi and punjab or sindh and balochistan. Your posts contained nothing provocative nor insulting but were in response to the provocative posts by others and since I had removed the inciting posts it only made sense to remove yours too as they would have appeared to be totally out of context. Comprende? no comprende?
Mostar your only contribution to this thread has been 'That's lovely' in response to our esteemed guppy Anil Khan's confession about how being a karachite by birth he considers people from all other provinces his brothers. You sent me a pm asking why your post was removed I informed you that it was a part of all the irrelevant replies in the thread which is why it was moved. Had it been a thoughtful contribution I could have understood your anger but just for a 'that's lovely'???
So far as your complaint about the bihari comment is concerned, yes I initially overlooked that but I think Fraudia has addressed it rather well. I did later come back to the thread and was going to remove it but did not due to Fraudia's contribution.
Hope that cleared things up for both of you.
Re: Biggest non Pakistani populations in Pakistan...
There is only one statistically correct answer to this useless question on this thread. And that being the biggest non pakistani population in Pakistan is AFGHANI. According to some estimates both legal and illegal Afghanis number above 7.5 million.
You need to update your information. The number of afghans in pakiland is not more than 2 million. By the end of of this year 400 000 of them would return to their country. Hopefully in the next five years all afghans come back to their country. By they way do you know that about 50000 pakis are in Afghanistan in search of jobs?

This includes the ones who dont consider themselves Afghanis anymore. During the past 25 years all the children born to afghan muhajirs are now considered pakistanis and from that perspective this number seems very updated and realistic.
Re: Biggest non Pakistani populations in Pakistan...
^ do they have Pakistani citizenship though? I get mixed info when I try to find stuff on it.
