Thanks TwitTwit. I do plan on having some job experience along the way while going for the MBA. Another reason for looking into MBA is the restaurant bit. Also I do have 5 1/2 years of work experience but in retail. Started off as a sales associate & worked my way up as a store manager. I know its not comparable to an IT job but with my past experience I am confident that I won’t be stepping in the job market all raw. I am a quick learner, know how to communicate even in undesirable circumstances, manage a group & work under stress.

Restaurants are no doubt neat. As long as we don’t blindly jump into it. I know there is so much potential in this business provided we don’t take the same traditional Desi route. No matter how tough economy is people eat. We just have to tap into the right kind of crowd & offer the best in not just taste but customer service as well.

dont underestimate your retail experience, think in terms of knowledge and skills..
with first hand retail mgmt experience, computer sic and then an MBA you can be uniquely suited for e-commerce and mobile commerce apps and sites for major retailers and consulting companies. functional experience and knowledge become increasingly critical as your grow in your career than just technical skills.
