Big mouth at it again

**Nawaz urges Khan to quit one-day cricket **

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan star Sarfraz Nawaz says Younis Khan’s sudden resignation from the Pakistan captaincy was a smoke screen to disguise his shortcomings in the one-day game.

As Khan considers the Pakistan Cricket Board’s requests that he change his mind and resume the captaincy, Nawaz said the player should give up on one-day cricket and concentrate on tests.

“Just like Younis quit Twenty20 format of the game, now it’s high time he should forget playing one-day cricket too,” Nawaz said in an interview.

“It’s better he should play only as a team member in test matches.”

Khan retired from Twenty20 cricket after leading Pakistan to victory in the T20 World Cup in England earlier this year. However, he wanted to continue playing test matches and one-day internationals.

Local media reports said Khan had sought guarantees that he will remain as Pakistan’s one-day captain through to the 2011 World Cup as a condition for resuming the captaincy.

Khan quit as captain after being called before a parliamentary committee to answer match-fixing allegations arising from the recent Champions Trophy.

“All this captaincy controversy is just creating more confusion in Pakistan cricket,” Nawaz said.

"Younis wants to gain people’s sympathy by resigning from the captaincy and he is trying to hide his faults which he committed during the Champions Trophy.”

“He should realize himself that he does not fit in shorter formats of the game.”

Nawaz suggested opening batsman Salman Butt as the new test captain if Younis does not resume the job, while saying Shahid Afridi — already captain of the Twenty20 side — should also be the one-day skipper.

“The PCB should have made Afridi captain for both Twenty20 and ODIs instead of naming separate captains.”

Nawaz said Khan should have come back home from the Champions Trophy when he injured a finger, instead of playing on and subsequently struggling for form.

“When he was advised four-weeks rest I fail to understand why the (team) management allowed him to stay with the team.”

“When the captain scores at an average of less than 20 how could other team members perform?”

Nawaz wants Afridi appointed to captain Pakistan in next month’s series against New Zealand in the United Arab Emirates, which includes three one-dayers and two Twenty20 games.

“Khan should be dropped from the team because of his performance in the Champions Trophy,” Nawaz said.

Re: Big mouth at it again

Sarfraz is an idiot!

Like every sane person I usually do not agree with anything coming out of Sarfraz Nawaz's mouth and it is highly likely that this time again he just spoke becaue he wanted to without bothering to use his grey matter. However let me be the devil's advocate here.

I don't think Younis commited any mistakes during Champions Trophy and his captaincy is causing any problems, as Nawaz said. His suggestion for Butt taking Test captaincy is absolutely rubbish and it proves the lack of brain cells inside his head.

But I will agree that Younis is not performing with the bat. His performance with the bat in the ODIs this year has not been impressive. In 16 games he has scored 398 runs with an avg. of 24. This includes 2 half centuries which he socred in the meaningless 4th and 5th ODIs against Srilanka.

At this level being a captain and a top order batsman, it is expected that Younis should be scoring more runs which he isn't and this is not helping his cause.

Hopefully he would be retained the captain and hopefully will get over his bad patch.

Re: Big mouth at it again

^ Younis has hardly performed in ODIs. His 'average' speaks volumes about his ODI skills. But Sarfaraz is consistent in being idiot that Younis is trying to hide his faults by resigning to gain people's sympathy.

Re: Big mouth at it again

Sarfaraz is nothing but Cricket’s Shaikh Rasheed. What a waste!

OK guys, something is cooking. Afridi playing Shahbaz Sharif and meeting Kiyani

If the “ijlaaas” was about what they said it was, Younus Khan should have attended it instead of Afridi.

Captain misses top-level meeting on Friday

Younis met Ijaz Butt, the PCB chairman, on Thursdayin Lahore and Butt then presided over a meeting on Friday with the chairman of selectors, Iqbal Qasim, the coach Intikhab Alam, the team manager Yawar Saeed, associate manager Shafqat Rana, and the team’s vice-captain Shahid Afridi. **Younis had been invited, but had informed the chairman that he would not be able to make it. **

Butt told Cricinfo. “I will not comment on either meeting but will say only that today’s meeting was a regular debriefing of the kind we hold after big series and tournaments. We wanted to address issues and concerns arising out of the Champions Trophy. **Younis had told me he would not be able to attend so there is nothing in his absence.” **

Its all happening in PAKISTAN

Re: Big mouth at it again

^ What's that suppose to mean?

lol... Sally Butt doesn't even have a permanent spot in any of the three teams and this idiot wants Sally Butt to be made the test captain? the main criticism of Malik initially as captain was that he wasn't sure of a test spot as a player. and now Sarfraz wants Butt to be test captain...

and Afridi is a player who has performed in patches that total maybe 1-2 year of performance combined out of a 11-12 year career for Pakistan. for every six months of performance, he puts in 5 listless, garbage years. so, yeah lets make this unprofessional, bayhooda, immature, brainless wonder the ODI captain and put the final nail in the coffin of Pakistan cricket.

but I guess I'm real the idiot for trying to refute Sarfraz's verbal diarrhea with reason...

Oh really? Well noticed :halo:

:omg:
