Is the whole “wedding favor” thing a modern twist on Bidh? Is Bidh still passed out? Is it done in place of the favors? Whose side does it? I thought the girls side does the wedding favors and my mom said the boys side brings the bidh so that’s why I’m unsure.

guys side brings bidh at the time of nikkah. If the nikah is to be performed prior to the wedding party then you should already have the bidh by the time of the wedding party. If nikah is to be performed in the hall and you want to place the bidh on the tables then you might ask them to give you the bidh upfront so it can be packaged and placed. If there are no such plans they can bring it with them and distribute amongst the guests after the nikah.

so those favors that you get at the wedding, is that from the guy's side then?

if by bidh you mean those small bags that are full with "chuharas",dryfruits and some candies then yes it is distributed by the guy's family on nikkah/barat day. These are different from the present day wedding favors. the other wedding favors that you get on barat day are from the girl's side and the ones you get on valima day is from the guy's side.
