Bid-dut

Is reciting Qur’an (“Qur’an quani”) for a deceased considered a bid-dut?
Just trying to collect ideas from different schools of thought.

Re: Bid-dut

As far as i know..u can recite Quran and pray for them...but the dead wont get the "Sawab" of reciting..the recitor will b the only one getting rewards for it!

Re: Bid-dut

WRONG

Re: Bid-dut

oh ok Anwar Qureshi..c i dont know a lot bout it!

Re: Bid-dut

^ if the person who is reciting is a child (or grandchild) of the deceased or was taught Quran recitation by the deceased then surely the deceased will get reward for the recitation....

however what is the norm in the Quran khawani where children of the muhallah r gathered to read Quran and then the molvi is told that 7 or 10 or 30 Qurans have been read and the reward is then passed on to the deceased - this is all wrong....

Re: Bid-dut

Thanks for the info. The reason I posted this is because some members of our community were doing Qur'an khuani as a group for somone. There was some dispute among a few regarding whether that should be done or not. I think this remains a controversial issues.
