“I will raise up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee [Moses], And I will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them and that I shall Command him.” (Holy Bible) Deuteronomy 18: 18
According to Dominee (a priest) “like unto thee” refers to Moses (AS) being like Jesus (AS). The Dominee says this for two reasons:
(1) Moses (AS) was a Jew and Jesus (AS) was also a Jew
(2) Moses (AS) was a prophet and Jesus (AS) was also a prophet.
(Shk. Ahmed Deedat answers): If these are the only criteria, then this prophecy can be applied to other prophets as well, who came after Moses (AS), like: Solomon, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Malachi, John the Baptist, etc. (peace be upon them all). He (Ahmed Deedat) argues that Muhummed (PBUH) is the one most like Moses (AS) NOT Jesus (AS). Therefore, this prophecy already indicates to the Jews and Christians, the coming of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Three Reasons why Jesus (AS) is not like Moses (AS):
Firstly, according to the Christian- Jesus (AS) is God but Moses (AS) is not God. Therefore Jesus (AS) is not like Moses (AS).
Secondly, According to the Christian- Jesus (AS) died for the sins of the world but Moses (AS) did not die for the sins of the world. Therefore Jesus (AS) is not like Moses (AS).
Thirdly, according to the Christian- Jesus (AS) went to hell for three days but Moses (AS) did not have to go there. Therefore Jesus (AS) is not like Moses (AS).
