Bibi

which culture did this title orginate in? The Mongols invented “Khan”, where did Bibi come from and what does it mean?

Re: Bibi

Khan in turkish means Lord/King

Re: Bibi

I know, it has the same meaning in a lot of cultures and is used all over central, south and west Asia but it originated in some part of Mongolia.

It has the same meaning in Pakistan, it's usually given to a leader of a tribe, similar to the Punjabi "chaudry", in the olden days the title was generally associated with Pashtun people or the traitors who were given this title by the Brits for their loyalty to the colonists but now it's used by ever tom, dick and harry, mostly by a lot of low status people from musician type family backgrounds, these last two reasons are why I'm going to edit it out of my name.

Re: Bibi

assalamu alaikum,

alls I know is that Bibi is a Muslim term of respect for a woman. that's the same one you're talking about, right?
