biased SC?

Re: biased SC?

Even with the SC they have managed to loot so much from the exchequer, imagine what would have happened if the SC was not there (biased according to jiyalas).

Re: biased SC?

Some corruption done by the previous chairman OGRA. People’s party supporters please let me know of one department where your government has not cleaned its hands on? To cover the corruption mentioned in this post gas price was increased 17 %. It’s todays news that petroleum prices will be going up by another 6-8 %.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 18: The federal government informed a National Assembly standing committee on petroleum and natural resources on Thursday that gas companies had sought a 17 per cent increase in consumer tariff to fund schemes recommended by parliamentarians.

**The committee, led by Sardar Talib Hussain Nakai, debated investigation into illegal shifting of CNG stations allowed by former Ogra chairman Tauqeer Sadiq in violation of rules and gas connection schemes proposed by parliamentarians.

Soon after the parliamentary grilling ended, Ogra issued directives to the gas utilities to resume work on ongoing development schemes.**

Ogra`s member (gas) Mansoor Muzaffar said the regulator had not sought any policy guidelines relating to stoppage of work on development schemes of parliamentarians and therefore could issue directives to SNGPL to resume work on ongoing development projects.

Petroleum Secretary Ejaz Chaudhry said the gas companies had filed tariff petitions seeking 17 per cent increase to complete schemes, although the country was already facing gas shortages.

He said the regulator had postponed public hearing till next month in view of accounts closing of gas companies.

On complaints from parliamentarians, representatives of gas companies said they had stopped work on new and ongoing schemes on directives of Ogra as it increased their cost of service.

Ogra representatives, however, said the regulator had disallowed new schemes in view of gas shortages and increasing revenue requirements of gas companies but they did not question ongoing schemes. On the question of 500 illegal CNG licences or their shifting of site, the cabinet divisions additional secretary Shahidullah Baig told the committee that Mr Sadiq had been sent on forced leave for three months because of some allegations`.

**After a number of complaints and media reports over an alleged illegal grant of 500 CNG licences despite ban on new CNG stations, the government had sent Mr Sadiq on forced leave for three months, expiring on August 28.
**
The parliamentary panel has sought a complete record of 500 CNG stations to examine them on a case-by-case basis from Sept 5.

“The Ogra chairman had challenged this decision of government in High Court, which dismissed his appeal. Later, he went to double bench which also dismissed his appeal against the government,” Mr Baig said, adding the court also said in its decision that perks and privileges being given to Mr Sadiq were burden on the exchequer.

He said that an inquiry into corruption charges levelled against Tauqir Sadiq by the Federal Public Service Commission was under way and the cabinet division had moved a summary to the prime minister to extend his forced leave till the completion of the inquiry.

The panel members criticised Ogra authorities for not providing complete record of relocation of CNG stations sites.

The PML-N`s Barjees Tahir said that Ogra had confirmed allowing relocation of 47 CNG stations sites, but had provided only a record of parliamentarian from the PML-Q and withheld other 46 cases.

“Corruption is glaring in all these cases, but it is sad that in the brief provided to the committee, Ogra claims that there has been no malpractices,” he said, adding the authority should be directed to provide record of all 500 CNG stations for which licences were issued despite a ban.

The PPPs Jamsheed Dasti said that officials of Ogra were thieves who were trying to save each others skin.
