Indians are at the top academically and financially. They have made the most progress since they came to this country and have succesful careers as doctors, nurses and lawyers.

Agree with most of what you write. But there are some seriously complex issues of history as to why most Mirpuri are backward. A lot also has to do 30 years of neglect by the British government, and major changes in the world economic order.
Anyways, according to the ONS, 95% of Brit Pakis marry other pakis. That includes most other ethnic groups. Pakistani culture is not that hot on mixed marriages.

The Indian success story has a lot to do with them being twice migrants, as in that they have come from East Africa. Ironically, one of the charges against them in Uganda was that they did not marry kalee.
Most British Indians I know came direct from Gujarat (Surat, Bharuch) or Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
I don't know any Indians from South Africa.

Well, in the UK, most Indians are from Kenya and Uganda. That Africa experience gave them extra advantage when they settled in the U.K. While most of us Paks came from backward areas like Mirpur. Mirpur's history is pretty tragic, with a hundred and fifty years of Hindu Dogra misrule. No wonder Shamas is pissed off. then they get dumped in the mill towns of North england, being victims of gora racism.
When you had been spat upon for 50 years, then all this talk about rainbow nation and mixed race marriage doesn't wash. Everyone has a right to choose their spouse, but try to understand why this guy Shamus is angry. Farah, while you were growing up in upper middle class bliss in Islamabad, people in Bradford were getting Pakibashed.

The majority of Pakistanis in U.K are from Mirpur(and surrounding areas) so if anyone is doing "backwards" things they're more likely to be mirpuri because of number statistics. I'm sure if we compared in ratios, the punjabi/sindhi folk living in the U.K are probably just as backwards.
I'll tell you what Pakistanis are good at, they're good at pointing fingers at anyone thats different, the Karachians think they're superior to everyone, they'll say we're all backwards... the Faislabadis think they're superior to anything north of them i.e. the Lahoris and everyone else, the Lahoris think they're more superior to anything north of them i.e. Sialkotis and folk from Gujerat because they speak with a 'su,su' and then they think they're superior to anything north of them i.e. the Jhelum/Pindi folk and they think they're superior to the Mirpuris but dont realise that they themselves are diluted Mirpuris and then you have the NWFP pathans that will bend us all over.

Not sure where you got this from. I am a Urdu speaker married to a Punjabi (Kashmiri and Arain), and having attended multitude of Lahori Kashmiri marriages, not yet come accross one involving Arabs or Somalis. It is fact that most Kashmiri marriages are with in the caste, or related castes like Arain or Shaikh.
So lets not just blame the Mirpuris. Most Paks (and for that matter Indians and Bangladeshis) take a dim view of bi-cultural marriages.
Having said this, the choice of a partner should be the person's, and nobody else.
