Bi-ligual people in Pakistan...

Okay one thing I have noticed is that most Pashtun people of Pakistan have the ability to speak Pashto, Urdu and Punjabi, however I’ve never met any Punjabi person who was able to speak Pashto, expect for the singer Hadiqa Kiani but she’s originally from KPK, my barber is from peshawar and I swear he is able to speak 5 different languages, and manages to speak them all fluently to, does anyone else notice this, I’d like to learn ALL the languages spoken in Pakistan if I had to go back one day

How many languages can you guys speak?

Re: Bi-ligual people in Pakistan…

Most people in Pakistan need to learn at least three languages if they want to get anywhere in life.

One, your local language. Second, Urdu and third, English because you cannot pass examinations at schools and colleges without them.

Re: Bi-ligual people in Pakistan…

that’s pretty impressive to be honest

Re: Bi-ligual people in Pakistan…

maybe because urdu and punjabi are pretty similar. that’s why most people can understand such a based language.

Re: Bi-ligual people in Pakistan…

Hadiqa Kiyani isn’t from KPK.

Re: Bi-ligual people in Pakistan…

All is well. Back to basedics

Re: Bi-ligual people in Pakistan…

Ahh makes sense

Maybe I should stop believing Youtube comments, but she can speak a lot of languages even farsi lol

Re: Bi-ligual people in Pakistan…

She is from Pindi area.
Yes, she has sung songs in different languages including Farsi and Pashto. However, singing songs in other languages does not mean she is able to speak all those languages.

Also, no need to believe everything you read (online).

Re: Bi-ligual people in Pakistan…

Because Urdu is a national language in Pakistan and spoken nearly everywhere. Punjabi comes a close second. They probably need it to communicate because I doubt most people in Pakistan would know Pashto.

Re: Bi-ligual people in Pakistan…

when Pashtun people speak urdu.

That’s impressive if they can speak that many languages. Most pashtun people i know only speak their own and then urdu and punjabi and english of course.

Re: Bi-ligual people in Pakistan…

fair enough, but i admire the fact that she still sings in other languages, i like songs in the other languages she speak to, so i hope to pick up a few phrases etc

Re: Bi-ligual people in Pakistan…

I don’t know if I count considering I live outside Pakistan but I speak 4 languages. English, Urdu, Punjabi and Arabic. Arabic I had to learn because I live in UAE and am a pharmacist, so to get across to majority of my patients, I had to know their language.
