Good article by irfan hussain outlining the dilemma PPP is facing, and that it has been stuck in a time warp.
Re: Bhutto’s ghost
will read the complete article later but agreed with the punch line:
The PPP is a tired movement that has run out of steam.

Re: Bhutto’s ghost
Two paragraphs from the article
“In a recent interview with Geo TV’s Hamid Mir, the de facto leader of the PPP, Asif Zardari, said proudly that his party had won the 2013 election in Sindh. This, then, is the sum total of the PPP’s ambitions: to remain in control of its home base to misgovern and milk it forever.”
“In his TV interview, Zardari responded to a question about the army chief’s criticism of poor governance in Sindh by saying that Raheel Sharif should do his job, while the Sindh government went about its business. Luckily for all of us, Gen Sharif is a bit more efficient than the PPP’s provincial government.”

Re: Bhutto’s ghost
I agree. It is high time that PPP should seriously think to change the leadership and bring young and honest people at top who can deliver. They should think beyond family ownership of the party. Bring people like IA or Raza Rabbani at top if PPP really want to survive in the next elections. If prevalent conditions exist in the next elections, PPP will lose even Sindh.
Re: Bhutto’s ghost
maybe, but this guy has been a PPP supporter in the past and even now his article seems more of the frustration as to where the party is now. Times have moved on, maybe PPP should too.
Re: Bhutto’s ghost
Where is Masroor Ehsan btw? He used to be the President - PPP Karachi div and a big name in local politics. A very calm personality may be PPP needs ppl like him now
Re: Bhutto’s ghost
Bhutto this bhutto that.
The man was a criminal, just like his daughter. Sick of all the revisionist romanticism that goes on.
Re: Bhutto’s ghost
He was not criminal. He was political force Pakistan ever produced since partition. PPP has thrived many decades just to mention his name in their rallies and processions. All opposition leaders follow his style of speeches even today. Perhaps this romanticism will never end.
Re: Bhutto’s ghost
He was a criminal.
The fact PPP has thrived many decades by mentioning him points more towards the backward and stupid thinking held by the people voting for them.
Re: Bhutto’s ghost
These stupid and backwards comprised of 90% of Pakistan. Rest refined people only live in Karachi and Lahore under the rule of mqm and takht-e-Lahore. ![]()
