Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

There you go. A good start in Sindh by IK. I wonder what the ‘dharna’ participants have to say on this who always used abusive language against great leader ZAB, and most of them not even born during his rule.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said he is going to Larkana on Friday to challenge PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

Addressing the participants of his party’s sit-in at D-Chowk here on Thursday, the PTI chief said it was the sixth term of the PPP government in Sindh and alleged that its leaders had become billionaire by using Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s name.

He said there was no doubt that the late Bhutto was a great leader who had raised the slogan of ‘roti, kapra aur makan’ for poor people and struggled for their rights, but unfortunately his dreams remained unfulfilled. Mr Khan claimed that the PTI would complete this ‘unfinished’ agenda and empower Sindhi people.

“I should have started my campaign in Sindh much earlier, but still it is not too late and perhaps it is the right time to provide alternative leadership to Sindhi people,” he said, adding that educated people, labourers and farmers all wanted change and that was why “I am going to Larkana”.

He said the Larkana meeting would be a huge gathering, adding that all his earlier predictions about the number of participants in PTI’s meetings in different cities had proved to be correct. He said people would come to support his party because they knew that the PTI could challenge the feudal class.

Mr Khan blamed the governments of Nawaz Sharif and Zardari for bad governance and devaluation of the rupee which he said had resulted in inflation. He said people like Finance Minister Ishaq Dar were responsible for depreciation of the rupee. They keep their money in foreign accounts and when the dollar gained strength their wealth automatically increased. On the other hand, he said, inflation had made the life of common people miserable with their purchasing power going down with each passing day.

You were right @Sachaydino ... this guy IS a liar!

Re: Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

A politician, playing on the sentiments of people, is nothing new in that part of the world.

Re: Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

Waaaaaaaattt...... IK praising ZAB???!!!! So IK's consultants have explained this to him that if he goes to Karachi he must praise and thank Altaf bhai and if he goes to Larkana he must praise ZAB.. :D

Well I think they forgot to tell him that in private sittings do not say anything bad about Generals ..Oh well :)

Re: Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

He has called Bhutto the last great leader in Capital Talk etc.

I blame Imran as much as the stupid rural population of Sindh who adore Bhutto. Or perhaps, they know that they won't survive a merit system on account of being kept stupid.

What a vicious cycle! Oh well, they are to blame for their own ills...

He was in larkana so he did what was right. It takes character to praise your opponent party's leader. But I think he also always said good things about BB too

Re: Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

I don't know what he has said otherwise, but in his autobiography, he called her unfit to lead.. unqualified.. faciliated corruption.. Only became pm due to her father being ZAB.

Re: Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

as long as he actually “empowers” Sindhi people by providing them with education and non-slavery-farming I am all for it :k: … but if he means to fool the nation by saying he will provide them ‘roti kapra aur makan’ but at same time his party makes statement ‘har saal martay hayn log…’, ‘unhon ne kabhee 10,000 nahi dekhay zindai mai’… then booooo.

Re: Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

He doesn’t look like the kind who would fool the nation. :chai:

Lets hope so. If he is sincere what he says, perhaps this will change the direction of Sindh’s politics.

**No Kalabagh dam without Sindh’s consent, Imran promises Larkana - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

KARACHI: PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Friday promised thousands of supporters in Larkana that his party will not allow the construction of the controversial Kalabagh dam without the consent of the people of Sindh.

“People of Larkana, I assure you: as long as the people of Sindh do not decide that if the dam is constructed their water will not be stolen, (Kalabagh) dam will not be constructed,” he told a large crowd of party members and supporters who had turned up to listen to the cricketer-turned-politician at a public meeting in Ali Abad village of Bakrani taluka.

The construction of the Kalabagh dam has long been a heated debate in Pakistan, where politicians and pressure groups argue over the provinces’ fair share of water from the river Indus to support local agricultural needs.

‘Will not allow division of Sindh’

Imran also vowed that his party will not allow ‘the division of Sindh’ at any cost. “We will not allow Sindh to be broken up at any cost,” he said.

The PTI leader focused the majority of the rest of his speech on the criticism of the PPP’s shortfalls in terms of delivery to the people of Sindh, and the poor governance and alleged corruption of the Sharifs and the Zardari family.

Camps of the PTI were established in Larkana city and along the airport road leading to the public meeting venue and party songs were being played at the camps.

Earlier, senior party leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi also addressed the crowd.

“Nisar Khuhro! Imran Khan and the PTI do not need your certificate to express our love to Sindhis,” senior leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi told a crowd of thousands as the PTI chairman took his seat on stage.

Qureshi focused his address on criticism of senior PPP leader Khuhro, who earlier this week made a fiery speech on the floor of the Sindh Assembly in protest of Imran allegedly calling the people of Sindh slaves.

“Nisar Khuhro of Larkana! The people of Larkana have rejected your resolution. We do not need an NoC or visa from you to come to Larkana,” he said.

Today’s public meeting was fundamentally aimed at mustering support for PTI from the rural areas of Sindh.

Imran has said he is going to challenge PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, saying it was the sixth term of the PPP government in Sindh and alleged that its leaders had become billionaires by using Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s name.

He has also said that there was no doubt that the late Bhutto was a great leader who had raised the slogan of ‘roti, kapra aur makan’ for poor people and struggled for their rights, but unfortunately his dreams remained unfulfilled.

Re: Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

You seem to have a crush on this guy…

Btw, you can’t challenge what I said, can you? All provinces need to be divided ASAP be it because of size and historical precedence (balochistan, kalat state was separate) or punjab or just to make it better in case of KPK / FATA and sindh. SIndh’s borders have changed as multan used to be part of Raja Dahir’s kingdom and sindh recently was part of the bombay presidency in the british raj. Insiders and outsiders will only laugh at this marsoon dasoon politics!

People of Sindh does not want any change. So digest this bitter pill and chill.

Re: Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

I don't think it's anything new, not sure if he ever questioned Bhutto's leadership?

Bhutto made many mistakes but i always admire him as a leader (has said this many times on this forum) and my admiration is because despite all his mistakes and weaknesses, Bhutto wasn't in politics for personal gains and his contribution to build the nation was immense. Imran Khan obviously have many faults but he is in politics for Pakistan and have never used politics for personal gains which he could have done purely on the basis of his successful cricketer as he had offers from Zia ul Haq, Nawaz Sharif etc

Nawaz Sharif has also contributed and has done good things for Pakistan alongwith Shahbaz but likes of Sharifs and Zardari will never be able to improve Pakistan as they have used politics more for personal gains than to serve the people.

Re: Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

quoted for truth…

Bhutto’s agenda was good but it only turned out to be a election slogan…

and not to mention Bhutto’s hunger for PMship, where he didn’t allow the party with majority to form govt… i hope IK’s agenda is for real.. and not any electoral call,

Re: Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

:k: that is the reality about ZAB and that is why he is still alive in the hearts of many people.

Re: Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

Poeple then supported him overwhelmingly from 1970s to 1993! PPP always came into power through free and fair elections. Karachi had a good development in his time but even that could not win the hearts of Karachi. The major works in my area done in his government were the constructions of double bridge on the lyari river, construction of the one of the tallest building and a construction of a subway! Although the area was very hostile to him!

Re: Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

Then JI was ruling Karachi and they negated his every good step not only to improve Karachi but to whole Pakistan due to personal grudge.

Click on picture to see actual size. **Though I give a rat’s arse to the number of people attending rallies as compared to agenda, vision and sincerity of the politician today. And I don’t doubt the sincerity of IK.

Now a days any tom, dick and harry can gather as many people as he wants by throwing millions of illicit money earned through sucking the blood and eating the flesh of poor people on fraud gatherings.**

IK has a good start in Sindh. It will create a lots of ripples in the status co of PPP in Sindh.

Re: Bhutto’s ‘unfinished’ agenda to be completed, says Imran

Well begun is half done. IK should not leave doing just one jalsa in rural Sindh. He has to come back to the areas like Shikarpur (always oppose to PPP even during ZAB times), Nawabshah, Thar etc

These old corrupt farts who does not want to work for Sindh except to suck blood and eating flesh of poor people should go home or abroad where they belong. Sindh needs + change. Imran Khan is the answer.

A political field wide open - Newspaper - DAWN.COM

**Though Sindh’s politics is dominated by the PPP in the rural heartland while the MQM calls the shots in large cities and towns, the field appears wide open for other political actors.
**
This is largely because the PPP and MQM have failed to establish good governance and the rule of law despite running the province or sharing power.

Hence the PTI’s rally held on Friday near Larkana was closely watched to see what Imran Khan and his party had to offer the people of Sindh.

Read| PTI against Sindh’s division: Imran

The symbolism was not lost: after having challenged the PML-N by holding demonstrations in Islamabad and across Punjab’s cities over the past three months, Mr Khan sought to confront the PPP close to its power base, keeping in mind the PTI theme of changing the ‘old order’.

**The PTI managed to pull in a respectable crowd and Mr Khan made all the right political noises, saying he did not favour the division of Sindh and that the Kalabagh dam would be unacceptable unless the people of Sindh were convinced of its utility.

While the PTI managed a decent enough show in Larkana, it should remember that one rally does not a movement make, in this case in interior Sindh.
**
Mr Khan’s party, after all, largely ignored Sindh and Balochistan during last year’s general elections. It is a good move for the PTI to try and have a base in Sindh, though achieving success at the ballot box will be a formidable challenge.

For one, many of the leaders gravitating around the PTI in the interior are very much part of the old order Imran Khan rails against.

It is not clear whether Sindh’s voters would repose their trust in these ‘electables’, some of whom are refugees from other parties.

**No doubt there is hunger for change among Sindh’s working and middle classes.
**
Yet no political group has been able to reach out to the province’s small farmers, labourers and other working people to address their myriad problems and come up with solid solutions.

While the MQM has failed to move beyond its urban comfort zone (even there the party appears to be losing ground), the PPP has marked its rule with epic bad governance.

Health, education and public infrastructure are in shambles, while the state of law and order can be judged by the fact that even lawmakers are not safe from militant attacks, as was witnessed at an MQM camp in Karachi on Friday. Indeed people still vote for the PPP because the alternatives appear even more unappealing.

Sindh is yearning for change; it needs political forces that can bridge its ethnic, caste and tribal divides and speak for the greater good of the province. Either the PPP and MQM should stop taking their vote banks for granted, or new political forces could rise that speak and work for the common man in Sindh.
